Insurance!!

Im 18 years old, Never gotten in a car crash, no violations, nothing
Moving to conneticut

Suggestions on what you guys think the insurance could be? Do they consider it a sports car or a sedan or both?

im pretty sure they view it as a sportscar... and unfortunately a TWO DOOR.... lame i know... anyways... i'm 18 with pretty good coverage from allstate... no points no nothing also and i pay 266 a month.... however.... im not "on" the rx8 im "on" our old lexus gs300 4 door worthless sedan. im still insured on the rx8 if something were to happen but im not assigned to it, my mom is because it was cheaper that way. if you plan on being assigned to it, plan on paying a lot. if you have insurance friendly cars in the family it will be to your advantage since they can "assign" some1 else to your car and you to another car.... however the fact that you are 18 and a male means your insurance is going to be high anyways..

dont even try if your on your own plan tho haha... i used to pay 194 a month when i had my 86 porsche but they told me if i was by myself i'd be paying 500 a month....

hope that helped

I'm 36, married with children... clean record, model "driver" as far as insurance companies are concerned and I've got a decent rate full coverage wise with Progressive.

While going through the motions the agent and I were discussing the pitfalls of the American Male youth. At one point he commented on how it is practically impossible for an 18 year old guy to get insurance (primary) in our car.

If you're parents are loaded or you've got a nice little fund to withdraw from I guess you'll manage. Otherwise, good luck.. that was the message.

Rates are also driven by city. What part of CT do you live?

I have Ameriprise - call them for a quote - I've found them to be the most competitive. Ph# 888.404.5365.

Don't skimp on coverage to save $ - CT minimum requirements is 20/40/10 which is extremely low. I recommend 250/500/100 or at the very least 100/300/100.

I really got lucky in terms of insurance.

I am the sole driver on my policy. I live in New York City and definitely not in the best of neighborhoods.

Being 21, I pay $150/month with State Farm.

That is with a crapload of discounts though.. Being 21+, 3yrs driving experience+, Good Driver Discount, SF Steer Clear discount, Accident Driver Prevention course discount, Multiple line discount, Multiple automobile (in household) discount, Safety discount and ABS discount.

Like I said I was lucky and I only got this rate because a few strings were pulled

I pay around $115 per month for two vehicles fully covered. Sorry to see some of you having to pay so much

StyleRide,

Your best bet would be to call the insurance company. Also if you are living with your parents then use the same company they do and you may get a discounted rate.

maybe I should try state farm then.

Im 28, 4 and will be 5 years of driving experience @ jan, has defensive driving course, Multiple automobile, safety and ABS. with GEICO I pay 1100 for my car and about 800 for my 08 FIT every 6 months. Had one ticket in 2006 I think. but it was just a stop sign, it didnt effect my geico rates.

Damn damn damn ...

I'm always amazed at what people pay in insurance. Not saying that people don't shop around enough, but some don't.

To the OP... go online / call as many insurance companies as you can and hammer that rate down.

yup i pay 4k a year for car insurance.

Please trust me when i say i looked around but theres nothing i can do. Im 21 and i live in the worst part of manhattan and statefarm was the cheapest.

After i do 6 months with statefarm im gonna shop around again......Theres really nothing i can do unless anyone has any suggestions.

Yes my insurance is the same as my car payment. Thats life and i have to deal.

Good thing i make enough money to afford it but i wish i could get it lower though.

no one here can tell you unless they're a broker in your area and have your details...
Go and actually call one or get a quote online...people here are telling you what they're paying which, most likely, will not apply to you

WOW!

Curious if your rates are approximately the same with a different car?
