i am going in today...

going to Galpin Ford/Mazda in So Cal

here's the deal i got so far

@ MSRP but throw in LowJack

doesn't seem like much of a deal even tho LowJack MSRP is $599 per sale guy.

shady hints:
- there's a add by the service dept that stated a 2500 off incentive for all Mazda INCLUDING the RX8
- Galpin give USC alumni discount but they gave me a lowjack instead
- thru the conversation i had with the sale dude, he said they've "forced" all customers to purchase LowJack on their car (disclosed it during finance and wont' take it off)

now, is it possible that all their inventories have low jack installed already?
how much better in terms of insurance with LowJack?
i am still thinking cash discount is better or
let me buy accessories at cost

to their credit, they are the first dealership i've spoke to willing to do a deal (lowjack) other have been reluctant to step down from msrp

don't have a car

sign

someone help me out here

i was told the following
15k miles, 48 mo lease, 3k down, money factor 0.0441, residual @ 49%
on a yellow GT no navi at $31100

he quote me a monthly payment of 540+tax and proceeded to tell me there's no equivalent APR in a lease. but when i first asked him what the interest rate was he said, "it's very low"

so any finacial guys or gals pls enlighten me, am i smoking for thinking i can get a 400 or monthly or i got the BS?

i am pissed and upset cuz i didn't get my car today.

oh added to the insult, they gave me 22k for a 02' IS300 with 12000 miles.

RANT:
-during the last test drive, the sales told me he had a "power month" last month so he's very kick back in Aug and has NO incentive to help me with pricing.
-they doing the "let me talk to the manager" act and wasted my saturday afternoon.
-they installed LowJack in all their 8 and try to shove it down customers' throat during the signing. Ultimatly, due to the USC Alumni discount, they said they'll "throw in" the LJ for free.
-financial manager came over, without introducing himself, plop down and proceeded to giving me the "very low interest" and "california law doesn't require dealers to disclose the financial rates" speech
-asked me to fill out a credit app, didn't call for my rating, and almost didn't want to give the app back to me when i walk out.

***
maybe someone can help me out, in so cal, what's up with the group of dealers in Van Nuys? I've got these shitty treatments from Audi, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, and Chevy. Is it the Valley of the Thugs? or they are just used to dealing with suckers?

bottom line, i am going to wait it out and waltz back to a diff dealership, probably Cush in Escondido since i have Acura/Honda connection.

I GOT A REALLY POOR SALES EXPERIENCE WITH G A L P I N MAZDA

Hi Terence,

Don't walk away... RUN!!!!

They are trying to pull several standard scams. Check out this link. First of all they HAVE to declare their money factor or interest rate. You don't have to apply for a credit app if you are not financing through the dealer. If you plan to use dealer financing, then get your FICO score otherwise they will try to tell you that your score is too low and don't qualify for the lower rates. Be aware that dealers get kickbacks for selling you their finance or leasing deals, anywhere from 1% to 2.7% of the amount financed based on the interest rate. Do not trade your car, sell it privately, they are ripping you off big time. Lexus sell significantly above wholesale value which is probably what they are offering. Tell them that you have reported them to your Alumni for the scams they are trying to pull.

To figure out your payment use one of the many financing/loan/leasing calculators out there. The link above offers a free spreadsheet to download.

Before you go to another dealer, read the above web link, then get your FICO score, get leasing numbers from a third party (bank, credit union etc) then ask them for their best rate (tell them your FICO score), odds are they will try to pass off a higher rate. Come back with the rate that you have. Sell your car privately. Mazda dealers won't be willing to offer squat for your car until they have plenty of stock sitting on their lots.

Hope this help.
