How Did I Do On My New RX-8?
How Did I Do On My New RX-8?
I'm relatively sure this is the right place to post this. If not, please advise.
Anyways, I purchased a new, '05 Mazda Rx-8, with 6 speed MT, and Sport Package (DSC, Xenon Headlights & Fog Lamps) yesterday for $24,630, out the door.
That included 6% sales tax, title and a new plate (some of you call them tags).
Be honest with me. I can take it.

I purchased my blue 04 MT RX-8 with the sport package and spare tire kit for about that (after taxes) 8 months ago, so to get an 05 for that now is very good. :-) Was that the full price, or does that include a trade in (even if you are a wash on the loan with the trade in amount, it does offset sales tax in my state- you don't pay sales tax on the trade in amount, so that helps in my 9.5% sales tax area :-( )
One thing to remember- available pricing varies by area and dealerhsip. Some dealers in wealthy urban areas offer very high quality customer service, and thus charge more for their vehicles. Then there are dealers that really push discount prices and volume sales. Many of these dealerships rarely do the proper pre-delivery inspection, or even go over the vehicle with the customer properly. (I know- I have purchased a few from that type of dealerhsip).
In the end- we buy what we like. If you had purchased the car for full sticker, it wouldn't make the car any less fun to drive or any less attractive. But it would make your depreciation considerably worse in the short term.
Anyways- enjoy the car. :-)
