Hm, my gt w/an invoice of 32800 was at about 26/26.5 after $10000 rebate but I have been told there was also $1500 dealer cash by some on this board. At the time of purchase I was not aware of this but even so, it seems you may be able to get them down a bit more. My guess is its including MAC financing. If I were you, I would shoot for about 25k and/or a big trade in value (you can make some money back there) Bigger dealer = better trade in value.
so let say that i got it for 25500 without tax and financing . i trade in about 5000 so it about 20500 , can you guys help me calculate the monthly paymont . i think we have to go with MAC right , i have an excelent credit so . i dont know . help me out plz

I purchased my 8 in Nov also sticker of 31,400 and pulled out with a 24,675 price. That included the MAC which I already refinanced at the credit union for 3.9. Which is what you should do refinance asap. Shop for the rate as as you are buying the car and start that process right away and that will save you quite a bit.

Thats what the dealer suggested I do to....seems a bit fishy to do such so soon after the purchase. I already am pre-approved for a 4.75% loan so its an enticing option to get that extra 1000 (VA).
But you do take two big hits on your credit right away.

thats not a bad deal but 1 thing you have got to know is the 8 depreciates alot .you will lose 3-5k as so as you drive it off the lot .so shop around .a good rule of thumb to use to find out what a payment will be is $100 for every 10,000.so if the car is 30k your payment will be $300 give or take alittle.
more than 400 hundred a months is out of my hand. i think i wont buy the gt package . 6MT with sport package cost around 28000msrp . so if i got 6000$ off the msrp it will be about 22000-5000 trade= 17000. is it good deal . i can get the car at 350 a months. that what i thought , i dont know if i can get that price or not. i might buy the car at the end of febuary , or early march . i love the 8 so bad

I get 4.75% financing and a 30K car would be over 550 a month.

Skynet120, there are payment calculators at many websites - especially the websites that host car listings. I've seen you bring up interest, but not term. Some folks are ambitious and go for a 3-year loan, but you can get 4, 5, or even 6 year loans on new cars. It all depends on your personal situation and goals - YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary).

Only you can decide which blossum smells the sweetest young grasshopper.
Seriously, automobiles are such a personal choice. I'm surprised you'd even ask that. The best we could help you is to call b.s. if you outlined a price that was way too high (we say - you're being ripped off) or a dealership known for shady sales tactics (we say - some of us got ripped off there already, but your mileage may vary). Some folks are happy with their dealerships and sales experiences and recommend them to others (I do recommend S&S in Baltimore, MD, but another member was unhappy with his experience with a different salesman at that same dealership).
My advice - get a buddy on-the-scene with you. They can help if the salemen try to bully you (rare) or try to lure you away from features you'd said were 'must-haves' (more common). I played wingman for a college buddy at a Saturn dealership once. He'd been there alone and came home feeling like they walked all over him. We went back together, were both polite, but firmly stayed the course. He got what he wanted.

I just bought my 2004 RX-8 on September 30th as a 33rd birthday present. I considered taking a wingman (8th car purchase since I was in high school), but I had a deal in-hand from phone negotiations and decided to solo this one. My college buddy and I were ~20 when I played wingman for him - he and I always looked back on that as a smart move.

If you are looking used I would suggest carfax reports too. The $30 you spend for unlimited reports is cheap insurance against picking up a vehicle with bad problems (some RX-8s have been wrecked - http://home.comcast.net/~store0001/macabre/ ) I suggest looking up Edmunds.COM pricing on specific vehicles you find so you can tell if the dealer is not discounting enough for mileage, etc, etc.
Good luck!
thanks , you're very helpful. i might wait for 1 or 2 months . may be i wont get my white pearl but red or silver gonna cool though. i'm not going by myself. trust me .
you got 8300 off msrp that amazing cheap for the 8 . wish i can get the same deal.
i think the dealer usually gave you the car fax if you ask . it free .
damn i cant wait to get that car.
my cousin already got it GT package , white pearl , appearence package .
can you give me some ideas what should i said to the sales man to lower the price down .

I can get 84 months at 4.74% through my credit union, since my credit score is now quite nicely above the required 730 minimum for that rate.
However, since you are 17, you are going to need an adult to take out the loan for you. Minors cannot enter into a legally binding contract in most all states except for a few for rental agreements on apartments. Basically, whoever agrees to do business with a minor cannot enforce any terms of the contract so they won't deal with you. Most car dealerships will not deal with you either when they find out you are 17 and trying to buy something.
Good luck with whatever you decided to do!

If this is your first car purchase there's only one rule you need to know.
1. DO NOT buy the car the day you go in to make the deal.
They will try everything to get you to walk out the door in a new car. ANYTHING. However, you need to find out what they're offering, take it home with you and sit down and think about it for at least a day or two to be safe. This is a big ticket purchase that you're going to be dealing with for the next five or more years of your life (payment wise). Spending an extra day or two isn't going to hurt anything.
Fact of the matter is, if the dealer really doesn't want you to leave, you haven't negotiated that great of a deal. They'll want to sell you a car, and they'll be more than happy to sell you the car two days after you can think about it.
They'll tell you that someone else is looking at the car, that they can only offer this deal toady, or that this is a special one time deal. Blah blah. Piles of bullshit. Take your time, and don't let anyone rush you.
If nothing else, take the deal you negotiated with one dealer home with you, and the next day go to another dealership with the intention of talking them down below the first offer you have. (keep the offer to yourself, dealerships don't always like trying to undercut other dealerships, and will stop playing ball if they find out that's what you're doing)
What it does do is put you in a situation where you're more than happy to walk away if you don't like what they're offering.

thank you , it help alot before i go to the dealer . i might go with my mom . , after that i will go with my dad because he's the one that decide . all i'm worry about right now is the interest rate. my dad hate to pay for something that wont worth anything . the lower the interest rate the better . i think i can buy the car for 22000 . if i'm lucky may be 21000. wish me luck . i' rarely saw any rx-8 around here , so if buy it with white pearl . my car will be so special . i pet there is no other rx-8 with pearl white around here

I'm an electrical engineer. I tried some sales when I was young, found I had no flare for it, then trained in something I could do well. I don't like to negotiate for things I plan to buy because I expect to be out-classed by a better negotiator, so I use different strategies.
I contacted the dealership from which I bought via the internet. I saw their car listed, thought it must be a mistake to be new and cheap - figured it had to be more expensive or used. The lady in charge of internet sales called me and offered me an even lower price and assured me it was indeed brand new. I asked her to verify certain options so she went to see the car then called me back. After that I talked to the sales manager at that dealership and reached a firm verbal agreement. He understood I was driving 350 miles and that I wanted to be crystal clear about our arrangement. He even faxed me the invoice for the car with some notes about the price on it. Then, I drove down about bought it ~1 week after I first saw the add on the internet.
Of course, I had been shopping for 6 to 8 weeks before that and nearly closed one deal on a used RX-8, but someone bought it out from under me (anyone on this forum buy a used blue RX-8 GT with 30,000 miles on it in VA back in mid-Sept? if so, no harm done, I'm really happy with the one I bought two weeks later).
Anyway, I also suggest you read some of the other threads in this Purchasing sub-forum. Groo posted an excellent story a few weeks back - I thought his technique was very good.
