getting a rx-8

HOLY CRAP!!! i said lease!!! lol... i ment finance!!!! crap!!! soo sorry about that

Hey guys! ive been reading this forum for about a month now and ....i dont know how but i end up spending hours and hours reading on it. Anyway, yesterday i went to the mazda dealer (Browning Mazda) at cerritos! I met a wonderful salesman by the name of Diego(very helpful). I looked at a 04 blue rx-8 GT(MT). after a bunch of questions and lots of looking and deciding on color (1st color was black... but i owned a black 98 prelude and man....hardest thing to keep clean, wonderful car though) . Well i told him i can put down $10,000. the price of the car was $30,000 and he would give me $4,500 off that price. And i will be leasing for 60months. I just wanted to know what you guys thought about this and if its a good deal. oh another question is, i have a business account and i was wondering if i would be able to write this car off as a asset of my business. (hehe) :p All opinions and feedback is highly appreciated!

Thanks alot!!!!!

25.5k for a GT? That's pretty good. I think you could try to squeeze a little more, but it's still a good price.

I bought my RX8 from Browning on Tuesday. Black 6 speed with sport. Last weekend they ran a newspaper ad for $5300 off sticker on 2004's which is what I got. They will probably run the same deal this weekend. He should drop the price even more. Good luck.

You are going to put 10k down on a lease? Why? The point of a lease is so you can walk out with a car without putting much money down. And you'd never lease a car for 60 months. I'm assuming you will be financing the remaining amount.

Check with your accountant about your business. Here is a little bit of info. If you lease, and you use the car only for business ( ), you can write off the whole payment. If you finance the car, you can write off the depreciation of the vehicle. Usually not as big of a tax benefit. Again, check with your accountant about your options.

Do Not lease for 60 months!!! Bad idea.Never put any more down on a lease than what is needed(eg. 1st,security,acqusistion fee,tag fee).If you want to lease take the $10000 you have and put it in a savings account and use it for your payments every month.Never lease for longer than the warranty, usually 3-4 years(4 in this case). The down payment on a lease does nothing but lower your payments each month. The money is in essence wasted.I say that because the down payment does not lower the residual at the end of the term. Please do some homework on leasing before you do this.

Just the GT packages with no other options is an MSRP of $31,200 isn't it? Invoice on that would be $28,620. From what you are saying you are getting the car for at least $26,700. That is almost $2000 belows invoice. As long as that does not include any incentives how could you ask for a better deal than that? Considering buying it for $26,700 with $10,000 down your payment for 60 months will be about $360/month.

One of our forum members, Ifubar2000 I think is the warranty administrator at browning Mazda. We also have weekly RX8 meets in Buena Park every Thursday at 9:00 so check that out after you buy your car. The information is under OC Weekly Meet Planner in the West Section.
