Getting a new RX8 either 06 or 07 models

I was surprised to find out that a dealer nearby still has a few brand new 06 and 07 RX8's sitting on their lots. The 06 cars come with touring package while the 07 ones are the touring model. So they're pretty much similarly equipped options-wise. I know I can get the 07 for at least $8k below MSRP, but should I try and get the 06 for even cheaper? Is it worth getting the 06 over the 07 for, say, $3k cheaper? Plus the 06's bumper-to-bumper warranty will be one year longer than the 07's.

Thanks a lot in advance and I'm hoping to join the family real soon.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I thought the same, too. But I am a bit worried about a new car sitting in the lot for close to 2 years. Plus the fact that they still have 3 of them got me curious if there's anything wrong with these model year.

Decided to go with an 06 since the dealer is more flexible on the price. I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow -- an 06 base with touring package and spare tire kit for $20,700 out-the-door. I could have aimed for a few hundreds lower but didn't want to waste more time. The car is brand new, blue, with 58 miles. I was hoping to get it on Leap day but they need another day to prep the car. :p

There are two more 06's left on the lot if anyone is interested.

I'd love to find a new '06 or '07 for under $21,000. I'm Raleigh, NC.

You should be able to get a brand new 07 sport model for lower than 20k with all taxes and fees included. MSRP is 26.5k and 8-8.5k below that is what you should aim for. So that comes to about 18-18.5k pre tax.

I'd love to prove you correct, but the numbers I'm getting so far are nearer to $22000.

Check http://ramseymazda.com/, they're selling a 07 GT model for 10.3k below MSRP. In your case, I wouldn't settle for anything lower than 8.5k discount.
