Get a load of this great customer service response

MY ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

I have a 2004 RX8 on order. I'm very frustrated with the
lack of solid information from Mazda compared to the assault of
information from private parties about the performance, MPG, and HP of the RX8. Mazda revised the HP down to 238. Fine. But before I keep this car I need to know why the North American cars are suddenly 238. I want proof that it really is 238 and not 210-220, which many independent dyno's seem to point to. I want to know why many owners can't get over 16 MPG no matter how they drive their cars while many others get 21-23 even with spirited driving. I want to know if their is an ECU switch at a certain mileage that will improve HP and/or MPG. Most people seem to think something was done at the last minute when the cars arrived at port to meet Emissions. Please let us know if this is true or false. We need this kind of information before October 1st. I'm sorry, but I don't think I can just take Mazda's word for it that the car is getting 238HP. We need proof that these cars are getting the performance promised and if they're not we need a solution.
Thanks,

NOW HERE IS THE RESPONSE FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE:

Dear Michael,

Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you.

In regard to your inquiry, Mazda has no plans on offering a
Turbocharging System for the RX-8 at this time.

Consumer feedback is always very important to Mazda. Certainly, we want to offer exciting vehicles, and comments such as yours help us to achieve that goal.

WHAT THE *#$^$#&^. I know I'm not the a very good writer and people will occasionaly miss the point I'm trying to get across because of that, but COME ON! ARGGGGGG! I GIVE UP!

Why would he mention a turbocharger?

You were clearly asking about a supercharger with built in nitrous injection.

Fools......

Yes I'd have to say either the guy is on dope or he replied the wrong e-mail.

The reply seems to correspond with.

Hi, will mazda be providing turbochargers for the RX8?

So that's where the real response to my turbo question e-mail went to. Instead I got a reply with 11 weird dyno graphs and charts etc and a 10 page word document. I haven't had a chance to read them yet - does anyone want me to post them?

NOT. Sorry, couldn't resist. I was joking - if only getting the truth was that easy. I will leave that task for Ryan (BOOSTD7).

Actually, I have very little faith left (next to nil) for Mazda Customer Service. I have sent numbers of inquiries on various topic via emails in the past. About a third of them were not replied (even though I received the auto message acknowledgements). Another third of those emails made initial contact with a representative, but were never follow through or I got the brush off answers.

Although, this thread tops it. IMO.

IwantONE2, your message was hard to min-understand. But who knows, maybe their life is hectic and they don't read well (haa haa!)? Give them a call and read your email, their reply, and then ask what were they thinking??? and ask for an approriate answer.

At this point, nothing to loose, everything to gain.

Please let us know how it went, my conversations so far with them are pleasant, although they generally don't have much to offer, except sympathy for no answers... at least up to this point.

PS Ask them if 'not at this time' JUST WHEN in the future they will be offering this turbo they talk about without asking!!! :D

You guys are too funny. Now, where can I get that nitrous system?

I just got off the phone with customer service concerning the buy-back and honestly could not have been more impressed. The guy seemed genuinely interested in my decision and said that my after-market purchases are not necessarily going to be ignored. Sounds like pretty much everything is negotiable (except non-Mazda parts such as wheels and exhaust systems).

Apparently, the big shots at Mazda frequent this forum often and are aware that there is still some concern that the independent dyno numbers are not bearing out the revised numbers. They wanted to know about all the nagging problems I have with the car (a/c, engine heat, mpg, etc.).

He also confirmed that Mazda will NOT be lowering the MSRP as a result of this snafu.

All-in-all I hung up feeling pretty good that should I decide to sell that I will not be taking it in the shorts.

You mean he intimated that Mazda was planning on cheap deals on Mazda parts and accessories! I guess that is good news, but could you elaborate on the conversation??

On the negative side, after thinking about what might come about, given the OUTRAGEOUS PRICING of CURRENT accessories they would have to like HALF PRICES to even get reasonable LIST dollars, IMHO!

No, I meant that the $190 paid for side strakes, the $120 paid for wheel caps and the $30 paid for valve stem caps will probably be reimbursed in full. He originally thought that these accessories had to be installed by the dealer at the time of delivery but then retracted a bit.

The $210 I paid for window tinting is probably history though.

I'm sorry , I just can't resist. Unfortunately, your way too humerous story, is all also likely way too close to reality.
=========

It is clear now, Mazda is being way to generous to your guys returning cars

(Mazda cost numbers pure conjecture/common sense on my part)
side strakes cost $190 Est Mazda cost for 4 - $20
wheel caps cost $120 Est Mazda cost for 4 - $10
valve stems cost $ 30 Est Mazda cost for 4 - $ 4
-------------------$340----------------- $ 34 Holy Cow!

Yes they were lightly tinted from factory but putting a darker, high quality film did two things for it.

1.) It looks great on a light silver exterior. There are enough black items on the car (fender strakes and tires) that the dark tint blends in beautifully now.

2.) The cabin in noticeably cooler (though still too warm due to engine heat and so-so a/c).

I highly recommend tinting darker on a light exterior paint. I took it to an RX meeting here in town and everyone was asking where I got it done.

Agreed, quite the rip off but I gotta say, the damn $190 side strakes REALLY sets off the car. If you don't have them, get them!

Auto-Reponse Email

IwantONE2: Looks like the response you recieved is the result of a "keywork search" and auto-response of your email inquiry. For instance, you wrote "improve HP", Mazda' email software associated that with the "turbo charging" pre-canned response. It's not a good match.

It seems other email inquiries (based on my review of the forum and not my own experience) were met with better responses. Could it be they turned on the "auto-response" capability of their email software based on increased email volumes. I just can't imagine what would have prompted an increase in emails lately! LOL

Why dont you confirm this theory by sending an email to Mazda with "improve HP" in the subject line and also type just "improve HP" in the body of the message. Check the response. This way you can be sure whether or not they are actually paying attention.
