I shudder to think of what it would have increased to after 6 months.

State Farm and Allstate customers defect to insurance companies like Progressive and Geico. They would save more money in the long run due to renewal credits, but policyholders want savings now, instead of seeing long term.

Both State Farm and Allstate have better claims handling then the other 2 that I mentioned. Also I like to know that I am insured with the company that has their name stamped on it, not a company that stamps their name, but actually you are insured with some indie insurance that no one has ever heard of.

Hey some companies dont run credit check when they intially write the policy. Credit (at least in texas) is ran up front with State Farm and All State, but my opinions are based off of Texas, since each state has their own set of insurance rules and rates.

i have usaa as well. Great insurance company never had a problem. I just wish my rates would go a little lower. I'm 21 and pay 1100 every policy. Though I do have 2 cars a 03 mitsu eclipse, and my 8 of course. Both full coverage, mitsu has 500col/500comp and my 8 is 300col/100comp.

Olddragger,

I 58, maybe about your age.

Mayberry died in 1970.

I don't like lawyers or insurance much either, but everyone needs liability insurance because of the damage they can do to innocent parties.

I retired from a small fuel business with 2- 2ton trucks to deliver my on products with maybe 2 or 3 hrs a day on the local roads of the West Texas oil fields.

The Texas State Troopers came into my offfice while I was out, and demanded to see my DOT records first thing in the morning. They asked to see my HAZMAT training papers so I said: "You gave me a HAZMAT test to get this DOT drivers license with an endorsement right here on the license".

Oh, NOES, you need a new especial HAZMAT training license! WTF!? So I get online for $25. and get that super special license, and go to the headquarters in Austin to plead poverty. They fined me $1900. anyway.

Everyone has some of what I carry on their own car so its not really like carrying ammonia or even acid, but the real corker to this story is that: If the DOT thinks you are unsafe, they can lock up your business!

Can you spell FASCISM?

State Farm is pretty good, but Allstate?

Trust me, coming from a person who deals with insurance companies everyday, All state is pretty much the worst one to deal with.

They have the cheapest adjusters, claim reps, and are pretty much the worst when it comes to using aftermarket/used parts. Not that big of a deal if you're car doesn't have aftermarket OEM style parts available (like the rx8), but it can be when you're driving a more mainstream car.

STAY AWAY FROM ALLSTATE.

I believe you Red RX--- my dad was a supervisior and mechanic for a nation wide transport J&M transport back in its day.
We only have our Government to blame. There is not enough people willing to stand up for what is right.
I do agree that everyone needs insurance, it only makes sense. But for Government to mandate that you HAVE to buy ANYTHING that they do not furnish is agaisnt the constitution--plan and simple.
And to say driving is a privilage is wrong. It is required now a days, if you live outside a large major city (that has transport services), you dont have a choice. You better drive. If you dont you will die.

I'm the original poster. I only have Geico cause they also insured my DeLorean with ease. Most companies say no over the phone cause I guess its not in the kids computer....but I know for a fact that they insure my friends DeLoreans. I didn't feel like battling them so I just got Geico cause they insured it without a hassle. The multiline discount is cheaper than having two cars insured separately. $118/month for two fully insured cars isn't that bad.

I know collector car insurance is cheap, but they require an enclosed garage in FL. I have a carport.

Well I actually had my 8 insured with USAA up until last year when I found out how much lower my premium would be with Allstate. It was a no brainer for me. Yeah you get the dividend from USAA at the end of the year which gives you back some money, but even with that, right now Allstate is the least expensive for some reason. If you're over 25 with no accidents then you really shouldn't be paying more than $110 - $115 a month to insure your 8...

As far as aftermarket/used parts after a collision, my body shop friend has told me that all the insurance companies are all shady like that these days, including Geico and State Farm, especially in this economy. They're all trying to get away with as many used/after market parts as possible. I'm sure that even with the 8 they'll try to put on a $200 aftermarket/remanufactured front/rear bumpers first before ordering OEM. And hopefully I never have to know from any claims department including Allstate's

I definitely recommend USAA if you are able to get it. My rates actually just dropped, though that might be because I turned 25 in July. I pay 515 for 6 months now. Hell, my insurance is cheaper with the 8 than it was with my 07 Impala.

I decided to go and check out USAA just now since I hadn't gotten a quote from them all year, and now they're actually lower than my Allstate premium. I'd save about $80 or so every 6 months plus get I'd get dividend they offer. Might be time to switch back over...

I shop every time my policy is up and owe no insurance company any loyalty. When I switch and I call up the old company to cancel, I make sure they know why.

I just switched my 2006 rx 8 from geico to statefarm.

I am 27 and I now have 100/300/100 coverage as compared to 25/50/25 with geico and save $600 dollars a year.

A ton more coverage and saving money!!! I also have one ticket on my record. When they say "Radar enforced by airplace" they aren't kidding .

Probably from all the fires due to (engine replacements being rushed by dealerships) fiddling the fuel line crossover and allowing contaminates to get on the line (make slow gas leak.. speculation..).

You think that's expensive? Do you want to know how much I am paying?

My cousin was in the marines. I wonder if he can hook me up to usaa?

Well.. I'm going to email this link to the White House.

Obama want health car and has the depatment of Justice defending his policy.

They're looking for trouble makers like you.

Obama says health care isn't any different than a tax and that he has the right to enforce you to pay.

Note: If you don't pay, your are a felon. then you can not own a gun or get many jobs.

It's Federal law. break it and you are disowned by society.

They get you for car insurance because they claim driving is a privledge. You don't need a car.
Therefore they have the right to enforce every driver to have insurance.

EVEN though they well know that you can not survive without a car in most cities of America.

whoa hold on buddy(ies) ---- why are we talking about Health insurance here ?

stay on topic u bunch of noobs !

Anyway, its time to help my bro to look for insurance, wow, I just checked it with Statefarm and its already like 600 bux cheaper(compared to progressive) ~ Well there are things that I need to confirm with an agent. but it shouldn't be too far off.

Why Progressive? It was an emergency Geico cut my bro's policy outa nowhere, just like what they did to me, that time my bro called me for help when I was oversea. So all I can do is buy it from Progressive, cuz its easiest.

Now its time to change

Gonna try AllState later, yeah I know some of you guys hate it, but Im dare to say all insurance companies are shady these days, so as long as its cheaper and the company is not too small. Its cool

Im gonna need to look for one next month for myself.

While we're piling on Geico, I'll add my $.02. I've never been a customer of Geico, but got my estimate for car insurance from them. That was my first mistake, I receive mail literally everyday from them, emails, and even voicemails (not emails and voicemails everyday, but i usually have paper mail from them in my box daily). That's all not a big deal but just annoying, I'm sure a phone call could clear it all up, but I can't be bothered Their quote, was a little more than twice than what my current policy was, which was laughable, considering I'm now over 25 and my current policy actually just went down. So i have no interest in their coverage but still get to receive their mail, emails and so forth

I personally would recommend Progressive if their price is right for you, I've never had a problem with them when coming to claims or anything else for that matter. I did actually jump to State Farm who promptly cancelled my policy a week after *shrug*, so I gladly went back to Progressive and even got a lower rate than I was paying before.

I been a Geico customer for 2 years and I still get weekly ads from them in the mail asking me to switch to them....guess the ad department doesn't communicate with the policy dept.

No matter what you get for your RX-8, it can't beat this...

Your new annual premium would be $3,549.00.

We received your request for a quote to add a Suzuki GSX1300RK5
HAYABUSA 1300 to your policy. If you were to complete the requested
change, your new annual premium would be $3,549.00. This is an increase
of $3,425.00 per year.
I have had no tickets, no accidents, and no claims. I'm also over 30.

That's similar to trying to pull out a $100,000 life insurance policy when the doctor says you have 6 months to live....

Same theory/business model anyway.
