Ferman Mazda, Tampa FL on Florida Ave $1000 below MSRP

If you've read my previous post then you know I've been looking for a dealer that will let me test drive the RX-8. Well I found one, Ferman Mazda off Florida Ave in Tampa. Even though I didn't like the car, the manager said if I bought the same day he would give me $1000 off MSRP. that was the initial offer, I could have gotten more I'm sure.

$1000 OFF!!! the salesman told me to pass the word around. they have 8 on the lot and mentioned 20+ more coming in that have been diverted from dealers up north. He said something about demand being low since winter is coming in. And of course there is no winter in Florida.

So if you want an RX-8 below MSRP, give Dan at Ferman Mazda a call.

$1000 OFF!!! But off a car you did not want to buy!!! That costs dealer ZERO. I would not call that a real offer.

They were just trying to get you to the table to start talking.
You indicated they did not have you hooked on features so they moved to price.

If it's not in an ad you can take to the attorney general or does not have the sales manager's signature then it's just BS from the salesman.

I am sure there are dealer's selling for that amount, but I don't think that dealer was.

I'm sure he was willing to give me the $1000 off. Right after the test drive we came back in and sat down. I told him what I thought about the car and said we had to think about it for a few days. He talked to his manager and said he'd sell it to me that day for $1000 below MSRP. I didn't get into any specifics like dealer fees and such, but that's all negotiable. The bottom line is they were not charging over MSPR like most dealers. He was just trying to sell the car for a fair price. I think they're trying to offload the RX-8's now. They had 8 on the lot and more coming.

I thought there was going to be a shortage of the RX-8 during the first year. Either Mazda is dumping the car on the market or no one is buying.

I'v been bugging the dealers here in the Tampa area for about a month now. The more you get on them the better you'll do. At first I couldnt get more than 1000 under MSRP now I got them down to invoice. Trying to get below but it seems like I'm doing pretty good. Don't trust what they say is invoice.

I bought mine at Ferman at dealer invoice. Go to their website and contact their internet person (Pam).

And if you tell them I sent you, I'll split the $100 finders fee with you

Just think, a year ago you couldn't find one for MSRP and most were going for hundreds over! Now the dealers seem like they're trying to get rid of them by selling at or below invoice.

I'm glad I didn't buy mine when they first came out, I'd be kicking myself in the but right now. Resale value on these things must be dropping like crazy. Maybe I should pick up a certified used one.

Yes Ferman Mazda is selling at very reasonable prices. They're tracking down a Winning Blue 6-speed GT with Nav for me as we speak, and I'll get it for $32k.

uh. Hope you're getting some extras... or you're including tax.

My 6-speed GT + Navi was 30k from Ferman.

bdeitemeyer, ah, with tax that sounds a lot better!

My final sales person was Richie Taylor.

I actually wanted Blue, but because there is no two tone leather with blue, I didn't take that route
