Deals on 09s vs 08s??

I've seen threads where guys are getting 08s or leftover 07s for thousands off MSRP. i've seen guys getting 6-7k OFF MSRP on "leftovers".

now that the 09s are hitting lots, will Mazda be sticking to MSRP or will deals be had on these cars too?

With the gas crunch, and crappy mileage of the RX8 - I can't help but wonder if RX8 sales will be slow... the refresh is a minor change and some people hate it....it's not a 100% "better" car to the masses...

i'm wondering if the deals on 09s will be almost as good, or as good as the 08s... maybe not AS good, but maybe close?

with the crappy economy, high gas prices, and low MPG of the 8, I can't see people paying MSRP for an 09.

i don't like the new 09s, EXCEPT for the R3 version..that one looks cool. might consider one of those. or just go lease an s2k. the lease deal on the s2k now is frickin amazing. ZERO down ( just pay first month payment) and you can have a 3 yr 12k/year lease for under $400/month including taxes.... no way you will see mazda offer that kind of deal on the RX8...unless they redo their residuals and MFs

anyone here want to post what kind of purchase or lease deasl they have been offered on new 09 R3s or on loaded up GT 08s?

Probably the 08s will be around invoice and you can probably negotiate to get it lower.

The 09s will probably be able to negotiate with a couple hundred dollars off.

Casey Mazda in Newport News has a new 2007 6MT on the lot still. Black with red/black interior, GT trim with nav. Of course I don't know where you are, but somebody might be able to get a really good deal on it now that the 2009's are showing up. I put my hands on it this morning, and it's a really sharp car.

I talked to a San Diego based mazda dealer who said they had a brand new 08 on the lot that they would sell for $6000 off MSRP.

I suggested that they might be able to do better and she said if you were on the lot making a serious offer, that was a distinct possibility..

i'm thinking 7500-8000 off MSRP might be doable on a leftover 08.

most dealers are either getting their 09s now, or already have one or two on the lot.

i personally don't care for the 09, except the R3 model. One dealer told me the R3 would be "limited" production so not many would be sold.is that true or BS?

'08 deals

Until they ran out a few weeks ago, Long Beach Mazda (CA) was advertising 10k off MSRP of all '08's. They had a similar sale in '07 when the '08's came out.

10k off MSRP? no wonder resale is so bad...

if i can get a fully loaded GT that has a 32k MSRP for 22k, brand new - the guy selling an 05 or 06 is SCREWED.

It's true. I just bought a black '08 (sport, only option is a spoiler) for 7000 off msrp. It was the last 6MT on the lot, the only other rx8 on their lot was a gray grand touring advertised at 8000 off msrp

it depends on the rebates really, as of this post there is 3500 in rebates in ga, whatever the dealer wants to discount past that is up to them. RX-8 sales are slow anyways because its a specific car for specific customers.

So - Are you saying $8,00 total ($4500 off list + $3,500 rebate) is a fair price on a New Left Over MT, '08? That would put price at a tick over $24,000 vs a sticker of $32,000.

I've not yet found anyone in my area that low.

most folks quoting huge discounts fail to disclose model type, mt/at, demo etc.... those make a difference. One cannot just generalise across the board. ATs are always cheaper. So are non-GTs. Demos or courtesy cars will get you much discounts too. At least where I am.
So far the best I've seen is about $7500 off a brand new 07 GT. But one has to add sales tax and PDI+Freight. Cash only. Not for finance. I really like a 40 AE at our local dealership's showroom. Hmm....

Any deal a dealer is willign to make as a cash deal they will gladly finance as well.... ALL Deals are cash to a dealer, and banks PAY THEM to sell your loan to them.

I pick mine up this week. - New Jersey.

New '08, MT. 40th Annv, with Spoiler and Sires radio.
List with dest $32,795
Dealer Disc $ 3,995
Mfg rebate $ 3,500
-------------------------------------------------
Total Disc $ 7,495
Net Selling Price $25,300

Approx NJ tax 7% $1,771 (assume it applies against net selling after disc)
Plates, Title, Reggy $500 (Estimate)
--------------------------------------------------
Out door price $27, 571

Down payment $ 5,000
-------------------------------------------------
Total Financed $22,571

5.19% 60 Mos $418 per mos

I'm sure if I waited till end of month, I may have gotten $500 more off, but there is a risk in not many MT cars being out there. Dealer had 9 of these, 8 were AT. Dealers were not interested in selling at deep discount anything they had to find.

Car has Sires radio, I have no interest in at all. I would like to add something that mimics accessory package and rotary accent package, If anyone has a source for this kind of stuff, I'd appreciate it. I'd also like to purchase a spare tire kit.

It's not their OPTION on what number to tax. If they could get you less tax they would. A dealer doesn't receive the tax, the state does. A rebate is NOT a reduction in sale price but a down payment assistance.

Window Etching COSTS $4.

.
We were close to buying the car from a NY dealer, he worked up the paperwork and he in fact considered the rebate as a discount on selling price. So, it is not consistent. I'm not an account or tax specialist, but it should be consistant dealer to dealer, apparantly it is not.

It all depends on the law in your state. In Cali, rebates do not reduce the "sale's price", thus you pay tax on the amount of the sale before the rebate is applied.
