Current Rebates?

I'm thinking of a new RX-8.

I currently get S plan through my company.

Does anyone know of any current rebates out there? I've sen $4000 on this forum but Edmunds is only showing $1500.

I'm assuming the $4000 comes off the S plan price?

Are the incentives different on 2004 vs. 2005?

What are the changes to the car for 2005 model year?

The $1500 rebate is the only rebate I believe is "official" to the customer. Mazda obviously is giving incentives to the dealer for them to be able to give the sometimes $4K off of MSRP. Some here are getting several thousand below invoice on 2004.
Only changes for 2005 are no more yellow, replaced by white (pearl), fold out key (vw style) and I believe they are pre-wired for sat radio.

Has anyone been able to get much better than $1500 below S Plan (which I believe is close to the invoice price)?

Do you remember the residual?

RX-8 Deals & Rebates

I've been looking at two dealers on a '04, and the best they're offering is dealer invoice less the current $1,500 rebate. I haven't come back to them with a counter offer yet - but...

Anyway, I'm waiting until later this week (may regret it, but that's the shakes) to see how the rebates change. There seem to be quite a few '04's on dealers lots - some over 1 year old. One I'm looking at was built 12/03.

Anyway, what's the take on what the rebates will do later this week? I can't help but think they've got to go up - or at least stay the same. They've got lots of inventory. I know about the factory fire, too. And, on a cash purchase, what are you getting for a deal? How much less than invoice less the rebate?

Hopefully will be one of the fraternity soon.

I just got an '04 6sp GT (haven't officially announced it yet - I'm waiting until I have it in the garage) for about that. The Chicago dealer claimed they have a "Chicago assessment" for about $450, and their invoice was $29,004 because of that. They gave me their holdback ($534) and the $1500 rebate. Cash sale. I have the purchase order, so they didn't add much in extras - about $75 only. Soooo - basically I got it for invoice, minus the rebate.

I also wonder about the rebate. It's $1500 until Jan. 3, and then what? I thought it would go up this week, but with the fire I'm not so sure. We'll have to see.

Typically they offer different rebates for different types of lease terms. You need to ask for the specific details for the terms under which you want to lease (24 mo, 36 mo, etc.). Also, sometimes independent banks or banks with which your dealer works with can offer better deals. Just get a knowledgeable salesperson who is willing to work with you (make it clear you want the best deal) and it will all be ok.

Any idea what the 3 year residuals are on the 2004 leases?

Last week my dealer was offering 49%. Any idea if they are going down this week? I guess the banks update the residuals at the end of the month.

I thought they are in the $16K range for a GT.

Arrow Rebates as of 1/5/05

The current rebates are:

$750 Rebate to Customer
$750 Incentive Cash to Dealer
$1,500 MAC rebate - if you finance the vehicle through Mazda Credit.

There is also 3.9% 60 month financing through Mazda, but you don't get either the $1,500 MAC rebate or the $750 Customer Rebate.

This info came from a dealer today (1/7/05).

I leased a 2004 6speed with everything but the Nav. 30-month lease with 12,000 a year, I paid up front for taxes, first and last payment, monthly payments of $340 and I believe the residual was $19,850.

If you have graduated college within the last 12 months (could be 6) you can get an additional 500 dollars off your car. That is on top of any other rebate offered.

Well, i've been doing some looking into this. I went and looked at buying an M3 during Xmas (ok, ready to get flamed now). I was pretty set on the buy until they told me the trade-in values for RX8s in the last 6 month, and the auction selling prices. The dealer I went to my dad works at, and the owner is a good friend of the family. I was looking directly at their research system. Right now, if you have a used 8 with anything more than 15,000, you would be lucky to get 20k for it. Mine has 30k miles and the dealer offered me $15k. So, to make a long story short, I've owned my 8 for 15 months, drove it 30k miles, and it has depreciated 50%. Unless something crazy happens, I would be very careful about leasing an 8 right now. When I leased, my dealer quoted me a residual of about 52% after 52,000 miles.

If the values are dropping like a rock, then you are better off to lease if the dealer is still giving you a good residual. That way the dealer ends up taking all of the residual risk.

The sticker price was $32,XXX and the taxes came out to about $840 + first payment + last payment + tags and registration. Total out of pocket:$2000

The $3500 rebate on leases looks like it's done now. I missed my chance. Now they are only offering $2000.
