Cars Direct Pricing on New 05
Hey all, www.carsdirect.com is showing $22,952 for a new 05 RX8 6M/T using a 33487 area code. Is this price possible at a dealer you think? Could it go lower? I'm shopping for a new car and will hopefully be purchasing in Jan 06 and am just trying to get a good deal. My negotiating skills are horrible.
I don't need any options on the car as long as it has the 6 speed. What price would you guess it would be after TTL in Boca Raton Florida?

Try Edmunds for market-value pricing. Generally, folks are paying below invoice on brand-new 2005s now. Once the 2006s hit the lot the 2005s should go for far less than invoice.
Personally, I've never had success negotiating with a dealer. I just use a take-it or leave-it model. First, figure the car you want and what you want to pay for it (being realistic). Second, shop until you find a seller who meets your price. That 2nd part requires walking out when you can't get what you want, but if you can do that you don't need to worry about negotiating.
Groo posted a great purchasing story here a few months back as have many others. Read back through this forum and see what matches your style.

Yeah use edmunds to e-mail the dealers in the area and see who comes back with a price. Be prepared for a lot of "oh come on down here and we'll show you what we got." I ignored those people and bought from the guy who named the price I wanted and could get the car I wanted immediately.
I was just quoted $26,110 for a 2005 6MT Touring model (including the $1000 from MAC). The dealer wouldn't budge on the price. I think that you should be able to get it for less than that while the 2005s are still on the lots.

MSRP for a base model is $27.4k- so that's almost $4500 off MSRP. That's not a bad deal. You can probably do a little better if you shop around- but it seems like the market for the 8 wouldn't be as bad in Florida over the winter as it is up north, so they may not be willing to bargain as much. A couple phone calls to local dealers wouldn't hurt just to see what they can do. But for a no-hassle sale, I think it sounds very reasonable.
