Buy Now or Wait for 2 more years
I like the RX8 a great deal and I would like to buy one eventually if not very soon.
My wife is kinda pissed because I just bought a car a year ago, so if I buy one now I'll be stuck with it for four years (or she'll kill me).
We have a car coming off a lease in Nov 2006 so if I wait I could buy the car at that time, possibly a slightly better car. I would then keep it for four years.
My question is, how much better do you think the RX8 will get in the next couple of years? Do you think they might come out with a Mazda Speed version with perhaps a little more hp? Any chance that the car might get worse, perhaps if they toned down the ECU to get better gas mileage or something?
Obviously, if I buy now I could save about $3000 versus buying 3 years down the road but the money isn't a big deal because the wife is the main constraint here. (And I tried the "it's my way or the highway" routine and that didn't work :p ).
Our cars now are decent, 2001 BMW 330i (own) and 2004 BMW 325 convertible (lease). They are both 5 speeds and each fun to drive in different ways but not nearly as fun to drive as an RX8.

From Feb 1st, Mazda is putting about 4K of customer cash and mazda credit rebates on the 2004s so I can get a 04 for 4K under S plan invoice.
Still thinking hard on this one...
