A Brother from Another Mother...

I have seriously pondering getting into a used 8 since i have moved to FL... ive owned a 2nd gen 7 (2 to be exact), both a TII and a GXL. Ive had my probs with rotaries in the past (carbon, blown apex seals, etc.), and although ive loved every second ive come to be weary of higher mileage engines (60k +). I have lurked in the shadows of the forums here for a year or so, trying to see if there were any defining opinions on whether the Renesis was conducive to the same engine problems of the 13b of prior years. At this point, im trying to decide whether its safe to purchase an 8 with higher mileage to save myself the money. the other option is buying a lower mileage model (obviously), but if the 8 is stable til the 100k's, i wouldnt mind saving the nickel. Anyone that can give me their opinion on the dependability of the 8 would be helping me alot. i understand it depends on the car, but try to think of a car with 20k to one with 75k. obviously more wear and tear, but im talking about if they were driven the same. flames are always welcome

+1.

Have an 06 w/ 30K miles.....yes, I drive the CHIT out of her, np's, although most of the bugs are out of them by now. Look into a newer one. You can still get a good deal and might even find a brand new 06 for 25K or so. Mine has the extended warranty because I knew I'd drive it till the wheels fell off.
