which is better
I have a choice between an 04 rx8 with 35k miles, and an 06 with 35k miles. I've heard that the o6 fixed some problems, however the 04 is about 4 grand cheaper. They both have the basic package. Which do you think is the better deal? Are the problems with the 04 justification for the higher price?

Maybe, but 2 years newer certainly is. IF financing your interest rate will be lower, you warranty is longer timewise... Al of the components are newer, many items will wear out in a longer period of time...

Not particularly, though Mazda was all abotu small little tweaks form year to year, so basically every year newer is likely to be a smidgen mroe reliable... 04 is typically the problem year, though that me be a bit of stigma since it's also BY FAR the most prevalent year. That would be a better question for others...
I've had my 05 for 8 months or so, put about 14k miles on it, with not one issue.
I put 15k on a demo 05 from 5k to 20k no issues...
I put 5k on the rotary roadshow (demo) 8 back when they first released the '04's, flooded it once... haha I'll even admit my error, I couldn't find reverse, kept going into 6th until someone showed me I had to push DOWN. But hey, it was the first RX8 in MD... never had an issue after that.
