Awesome deal on a new '04

Just closed the deal on a new 2004. Got a whopping $4500 under invoice. $500 under from dealer hold back, $1500 rebate from Mazda, $2500 rebate from Mazda financing (only had to finance 7k for 2 months, no pre-payment penalty)

Bottom line sticker price $30,300...purchase price $23,420.

This was in CT...Milford to be exact.

My specs

Titanium Grey

Only has the sports package and the Nav (Didn't want that at all, but....)

My requirements are for a track car, winter car (with good snows it'll be fine), car to take into the city etc. So...I didn't want the moon roof and other stuff. The cars lighter and stiffer without it!

This will be an excellent addittion to the stable!

I just got a similar deal in Boston. MSRP was around $33,500. I went down on the last day of January (bad month for cars we had a lot of snow) and they made me an offer at $200 above cost. Then there was $4000 in rebates from Mazda. I got my Silver 6Speed GT, spoiler, 6 disk changer, rotarty accent package, appearance package, spare tire, basically every option but the Nav system for $26,775. I'm very happy with the deal. Mazda seems really anxious to get rid of the 04s as they should be at this point. Good for us, I absolutley love the car and I could never afford all those options on the 05.

Those are some great deals. I just checked out the dealer inventory search in my area. There are a bunch of 2004's but none in the colors I want. I really haven't seen too many 8's on the road down here in south Florida. Can't go a mile without seeing a 350 Z though. I'm planning on getting an 8 at the end of this year, but if I found a used one with the right colors, I would jump on it, especially for a deal like you guys got.

I just picked up a used 04 6spd sport package in OUTSANDING condition with rear spoiler, spare tire, and floor mats for 24,500 out the door after ttl from schumacher off of okeechobee and palm beach lakes. They're the ones with that god forsaken silver car with all the decals. If youre willing to travel a little you might want to try Ed Morse over in port richey. They had (might still have) a new 04 blue with GT, spoiler, appearance, and I think 6cd changer for 28,200 out the door after everything...you'll have to talk them down some though, but VERY nice people. Either way good luck, what color are you looking for?

I'm pretty sure I want the black w/black and red interior. I did see one of the white ones the other day, and it looked really good (no 04 in that color though). My two previous cars have been white, so it might be time to go with the black. Thanks for the suggestions on the dealers up north, not sure that my search on mazda's site included those, I'll try it again.

No luck on a '04 in black, but the dealer by me has a Shinka in stock now. I'm sure those are gonna be hard to get a good deal on though.

I have been in contact via email with my Mazda dealer, and I have inquired about a similar car to the one you just got. I found the car on the Mazda web site, and it was one of 26 six speeds that they have on their lot. The one I wanted was Nordic Green with Sport package and navigation. The best deal he would give me via email was $28,000, $4000 over the deal that you just got. I told the guy I would stop wasting his and my time.

Same Situation

I'm about to buy a new 2004 rx-8 as well. I really liked the 350z but this car seemed more practical. The quote I just got was for:

2004 Black RX-8
grand touring package
appearance package
rotary accent package
all weather floor mats
rear wing spoiler
wheel locks

for $26,180.00 plus tax, tags, and $100 processing fee. I don't know if this includes all the rebates available. Just wondering if you can help me figure out what price to try and get him down to.

Thanks for the help.

That would be a good price in the Seattle area. (Of course you have to factor in the cost of keeping it clean. ) Try www.carsdirect.com to see a comparison price. If you're significantly below the "target price," which I believe you are, you're doing well.

Just remember that you've lost a year of depreciation on an '04 when you drive it off the lot. Unless you plan to sell it as soon as you buy it, however, you have a good deal.

Mattisax...

I searched all of florida extensively for that same car (black on black and red) and there is only ONE new 04 in florida in those colors. Its over in Tampa and it was a demo with almost 4000 miles on it. It may be gone but you might want to try there. The only problem was the dealer knew he had the only one and straight up told me he wasnt too concerned about meeting the quotes i recieved from other dealers of a comparible RX-8. "It's a hot color and it'll sell". I laughed and said thank you for your time...might want to see if hes singing a different tune since then.

I have been looking at the 8's for the past month or so and think that I have found one. The sticker is $30,700 but after the rebates the price was $23,800 for a model with a touring package.

Initially I was going to get a Scion tC but if you figure in the supercharger kit at 3K, the extra 12 months of warranty (1K), 18" wheels ($1500), body kit (1k) the car ends up costing 23K and its not as half as cool at the RX8.

Yeah, There have been great deals on '04s the last few weeks. If you saw my post, I got a 2004 6 spd. w/ Touring and Appearance Pkgs yesterday. I got $6K plus change off the MSRP. Not as good as your deal, but I'm happy with it.

Inventory on '04's is getting slim. I had to workhtree dealers to find a config that I wanted. I would have done it a couple of weeks ago and found more choices, but I was traveling on business.

Leftover new '04's definitely driving the prices low. I was looking at new '04's with 6sp, Sport package and little else in the 22 range. But then a local used WB 6Sp GT caught my eye - 6K miles on the clock. 32.9 sticker (6CD, cassette, Rot Acc, rear spoiler, various other). Oh, and it has various mods, too : Greddy SP2 Cat back, Tenabe NF210 lowering springs, brushed aluminum dash kit, chrome fuel door, JDM clear markers, CF pillar applique, 35% tint, and various other doodads. Got the dealer to rebalance tires (has 18" Pirelli 240 snows) do full alignment, and touch up some wheel scuffs. All for 23. Now getting reflash and various TSB's done.

2004 MT Base

I just bought my RX-8 base with MT for $20,495 (MSRP $27,200). $2500 from MAC, $1500 from Mazda and the dealer at the rest. They were advertising this price because they want to get rid of 2004 (especially base models). I was looking for the Sport package, but couldn't argue with the price.

Love the car...just waiting for Spring now. I'm in NH and were still getting snow!

Angry Price drop motivation

Some of you no doubt have read the posts about Mazda replaceing your 8's engine for free, with a factory fresh engine. Doubting the truth in this, I called (1800-222-5500), Mazda NA, and spoke to Lee, at ext. (47760). He said it is true, Mazda is replacing the engines, FREE of charge, through a select group of dealers for durabilty tests. Do they know something we do not, will this hurt re-sale values, don't know- we will have wait and see.

Frankly, I don't see anything necessarily sinister or negative about this. Considering that the Renesis rotary is a new engine, I'm rather impressed that Mazda would make the effort to establish its behavior and durability using engines that have had real world use.

Don't be jealous guys. The reasons these deals are out is because car it's an 04. In terms of value and price these guys are paying, they are esentially paying same price. For those who never plan to trade car in, 04 is way to go because of these ridiculous blow outs. However what they are paying for car is all that it is currently worth. Car is not worth the msrp or invoice anymore. With every deal comes a catch. The catch is, in terms of value, you are getting what you pay for. For those who do not plan to trade their rx8 in for 10 years, CONGRATS, because you are really getting an incredible deal.
