OK, i'm looking for a new RX8

Black
6-speed
GT Package(Black/Black int too)
Nav
Bodykit
Spoiler

It seems that the local dealers just want to move the vehicles they have...i know there are a couple of these floating around the states. How do i get them to get me one of these without flying to wherever has it.

I'm in chicago...i'd gladly drive to WI for it :D...want the sale?

The dealers will typically do dealer trades if you can find the vehicle within several hours of them. You're not asking for a rare car. Remember that they can dealer install the wing and appearance package (body kit). So, you at least need a black 6-speed GT with Nav.

Call around. Can you search through Mazda's website?

No need to call around MazdaUSA can search the whole country...they did...found a few.

New production is done...there won't be many more coming...at this point, this config is rare!

So...how do i get the local dealer to get me what i want, instead of flying to Louisville(closest one to chicago) to get it.

If you pay for the flat bed, they'll buy it from the other dealer. See if they'll do a driving dealer trade to Louisville. My guess is that it's too far.
Here's my recommendation: Buy the car in Louisville. Rent a car and have a buddy drive you down. I rented a car and it cost me $23 for a day.
On your drive back, don't use the cruise control. You shouldn't use it while you're breaking the motor in. I'll be in Lexington come January 9th, so if I can be of any help, just let me know. I know someone at the dealer in Lexington, if that would help at all.

Interesting...i wonder how much a flatbed would cost...do i hire this, or do dealers typically have one they charge people to use?

I was planning on flying to LOU...~$60 one way not bad...but the 6 hour drive home has left me thinking that i could be doing other things...espically in this recent snow.

Thanks for the info...choices, choices...

A $60 flight would be worth it... If you can avoid the snow.

First post here, love the site.

Ok here's a question I have been curious about but can never get a good answer.

I have 3 lease payments left on a 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara JLX 5M/T. (got it in February 2001) The lease is actually up April 2006. I'm currently paying $362.00 a month on it. The car is in great condition for how old it is and only has 32,000 miles on it. If I actually decided to keep this vehicle after the lease is up I would still owe about $9,000 on it. (yes I know it's crazy) I do not want to refinance. It would end up costing me over $28,000 after adding up how much I've payed already and the refinance of the $9000 I would still owe.

My lease company (53 bank) does not allow early lease turn in through them. Would it be possible to just take this car to a dealership and turn it in? What will the dealer do? Buy it out or tack on the last 3 remaining payments to my new car purchase? I'm not sure what other options I might have.

I have been doing a lot of on-line forum lurking and research on my next vehicle. I have it narrowed down to a couple different models. The 2005 RX-8 is at the top of my list, along with the 2006 Mustang GT. (still debating this one, I hear a lot of horror stories about these) I have driven a friends 2004 RX-8 and love it. Have yet to drive a Mustang. There's a couple more models I like in the price range but the 2005 RX-8 6M/T on www.carsdirect.com are very cheap $23,940. I don't need any options on the car just as long as it has the 6 speed.

What kind a deal do you think I'll be able to get using the Suzuki? Should I just wait till April and turn in the car through the leasing company or get rid of it early through a dealership?

I live in south Florida so weather is not a problem. (won't need snow tires)

Thanks in advance and I'm glad I found the website!

Here's my question?

I'm (eagerly) awaiting the 2006's to be released (latest word here, early April) I'll have pre-approved financing so I'll basically be negotiating from a cash perspective.

Given that these will be the brand new on the lot 2006's, do you think I can walk in, offer invoice, stick to my guns and have a shot a getting a quick, easy in- easy out, buy??

Many thanx

I know you aren't asking me the question, but why would the dealer give you the car for invoice if they are just landing? That is, of course, assuming that they don't have any incentives on them when they first arrive. I really don't see them selling it for 0 profit.... but best of luck to you if you try!

This is sort of a toss up question. With the number of 2005's that are left hanging around the lots and the late start Mazda got in production for the 2006's does anyone think that Mazda will ship an appreciably lower number of RX-8's to the U.S. this year so that there's not a huge number of them hanging around at the end of the year?

If I was Maza I'd be more worried that people have now come accustom to getting one for $21-$25g instead of $30+g.... if 05's remain when 06's hit I think Mazda will have a tough time beating the deal on 05's. 06's don't seem to be any different per say and I think they may snowball into more haggle room on 06's.

Unless you want an AT, then you'd want to go w/an '06 despite the savings I would think.

How much of a hit would I take to go from a 2004 base to a 2005 sport? The 2004 has 15k miles on it.

In the acura world, there is a survey that goes out(the call and send it via mail and email!) after each sale...if they score high, the dealership gets a few hundred dollar bonus...does this exist in the mazda world?

New to this forum. New to the RX8, and a rookie when it comes to buying a car through the phone or internet. Do you think if I found an 05 RX8 local,(Tampa) that they would match the AutoBarn that I have been reading about on another posting.

Let me help clarify this. Don't get INVOICE confused with DEALER COST. They are not the same, and that's precisely the manipulation game that many peripheral players in the industry have helped design. Back in the 80's, invoice was at least closer to dealer cost. Different dealers pay slightly different prices. All kinds of insider deals, difficult to find out exactly what each dealership is paying for their cars. Also, back then there was only blue book. NOW, there's several different companies out there, including Edmunds, Consumer Guide, etc. Although I have no proof, it's clear to me that these companies are in collusion with the auto industry, who give them kickbacks in exchange for gradually increasing the invoice numbers they publish relative to actual cost over the past 15 years.

Massaging Dealer Invoice

Dealer Invoice has many contengencies. Edmonds will give you (for free) what they consider to be accurate prices and "what others are paying". The fact of the matter is that it costs dealerships money for every day a car sits on their lot; be it the interests they are paying on their inventory, the salaries they pay their employees etc, etc. Plus there are usually hidden kickbacks from the manufacturor anyway (hold-over costs, etc). Plus there are bonuses and special perks for volume sales.

That said, the dealership certainly doesen't WANT to give you a car at invoice but they definitely will if you simply volunteer to walk out. Then they'll try to screw you with phony doc bills etc, but just don't do it. Offer them invoice and if you in a good mood maybe a couple hundred bucks more to assauge the manager.

Right now, I'm eyeing a 2005 base model 6-speed manual. MSRP is 27, 400 which everyone knows by now. I'm gonna offer 22k just to take the money pit off their lot. Will they accept? Probably not. But the internet has leveled the playing field for all of us.........................

My question is:

How much is acceptable to pay for a 2005 RX-8 with:

-6 speed manual
-Leather and Sunroof
-Aero Kit
-Fender Strakes
-Spoiler
-Rotary Accent Appearance Package

Brand new? Several dealers I know have said "anything less than 28,900, and we'll be taking a hit; we can't do that, and I have a feeling that this is arguably bull.

Any thoughts? Where should I be aiming for?
