Additional $1500 rebate left over 04's after Jan. 1

Has anyone else heard this or is this just some Bull****, I have some guy looking to buy my car and he told me that his friend at the dealership told him that there will be an additional $1500 rebate on the leftover 04's. Should I take his offer before the car depreciates more? I know they are already offering $1500 now but he says it would be on top of that. I used to think I knew what I was doing when it came to buying and selling my cars but now I ask the experts. If anyone would know it would be on here. I dont know what do. Thanks

How much are you selling your car for, and what options are on it?

It's true that some people have been able to buy a new 2004 RX-8 for $3,000 under invoice, though I don't know what incentives are available currently.

something to consider - the factory that makes the RX-8 burned down yesterday. A 7 hour long fire. RX-8's are no longer being made, and there is no ETA on when they will be able to start making them again. This means the value of your RX-8 might be rising in the next few months, and new RX-8's are not going to be as discounted.

Well, you have several things going for you.

1) You own a yellow RX-8, it was only made in 2004, and you can't buy it anymore.

2) Your car is almost brand new.

3) There is about to be a limited supply of 2005 RX-8's, causing dealerships to stop discounting the cars.

Given these points, I would recommend you holding your ground - post your car in the for sale section on this forum as well as on eBay. If I were looking for an RX-8, yours would be ideal.

btw, what did you pay for it? Did you get dealer invoice, or did you pay more?

hard to say, it would depend on how quickly you need to sell the car.

Given the low miles and the rarity of your specific color, I'd say you should be able to sell it for $2,000 under invoice. If you really need to get rid of it, $5,000 - $6,000 under invoice. I came to the 5-6k figure because that's $2 - $3k under what someone can get a new 2004 assuming there was one that matched what they wanted and they could get the dealer to play ball.

You can self-appraise your car through, I think, Kelley Blue Book--kbb.com. Enter the mileage, add the options, and you should be able to determine how much it is worth right now. If it's not that site, I can prolly dig up the site where you can do that.

how did you hear about the fire? I started out asking 28500 on traderonline but now if someone is reasonable I will take them up on it. I dont really have to sell it but I dont want to hold it forever either. I would be pretty flexible because I went to trade it and dealer only offered 21k I wont take a hit like that. Someone has to be fair, the car is still (almost)brand new. I would post it on here but I cant view the pics on this website and I would atleast like to know what I posted.

I've yet to see any site properly produce numbers for the RX-8.

Skinny, something else to consider - the 2005 models just came out. It will be a full year before 2006 come out. So selling your car today, or in 5 months, your car will still be one year old. If you're not in a rush, don't rush!

Here's info on the factory fire: http://rotarynews.com/node/view/483

I almost wish I was looking to buy - a rare yellow with 700 miles is really sweet.

if you can't view the pics here, you can post your pics to cardomain, and then hotlink from the forum directly to cardomain using the [ img ] tags.

Let me know if you need any help.

1500 Rebate Question

I just bought my 04 Rx8. I love it. What do you think the odds are of me getting that additional 1500 from the dealer ? I mean I bought it like last week and Jan 1 is like a week away ?

Slim to Zero. Or just Zero. Second off, you don't know if the $1500 rebate is for real. Good luck though!

You already made a deal on the RX-8, you don't get to go back and have them rewrite all the contracts and hand you $1500.
