About to be New Owner

Hello every one, I am about to buy a 2004 RX8 24,580 original miles, automatic, one owner garage kept for $10,987.00 plus a warranty from the Mazda dealer that will cover the drive train and tax title and license pushes it to about $14,500. Is this a good deal on this car and is there anything I need to watch out for?

Check to see if the engine has been replaced under warranty, or if any TSB's have been performed.
Ask for a compression test of the engine.

Personally, I'd keep looking...

I'll do that the dealer just got the car in Sat. and it was in the middle of their 124 point inspection when they left Sat. so I didn't get to drive I'll talk to the mechanic. The sales manager said it was the previous owner 3 car and only driven on the weekends is why the milage is so low. I checked out the interior and the body pretty well tires are about 40% rubber left and absolutely no sign of ware in the interior looks brand new except for a ding in the door. They said they are the dealer that sold it new and all the maintenance was done there. If it drives ok probably going to get it. I had a 1986 RX7 loved it. Would prefer a stick but in Dallas rush hour an auto will be ok. Plus my 2006 Cobalt SS is about to die and needs to go.

Test drive that car and then test drive an 06+ automatic rx8 and you should notice a huge difference. The 04-05 auto rx8s had a 4 port engine with a 4 speed transmission, the 06+ ones have the more powerful 6 port engine with a 6 speed transmission.

Get the 06+...it's faster.

ew, buy a manual, you are cheating yourself.

Bought my 2008 rx8 40th anniversary MT last year at a dealership, was 18.5k with 29k miles on it.

Thats 6k more for a car that is:
4 years newer
engine warranty until 2016
4500 more miles
only 1000 in the US
exclusive red interior
exclusive wheels
heated seats
full appearance package

I suggest to keep looking, especially on the forums. deals are to be had. ive seen 40th annys go for as low as 14-16k with less miles than when i bought mine, private sale.
