2nd Allocation Follow-Up

In order to help the 2nd Allo guys, please post when you get the "port 30" status or the email for final release.

Include last for of VIN, PORT, and car specifics.

We are not as sexy as the 1st allo to the forum for obvious reasons, but we still need a few threads to estimate our time of delivery. Afterall, we waited ALMOST as long as them

See specifics of car in my footer.

Car was at Port H as of 6/27/03. The dealership is located in Stockton, California. I believe this is about 6 hours from the Port.

Nope. I should have been, but alas I was thrown into the 2nd allocation.

I orginally ordered it on or around 1/20. But the dealer couldn't get it in until 1/28/03 and I got confirmation around 2/18/03.

My build date was 5/30/03. And I definately know, that my car was on the second boat to Port H.

That's okay. No regrets. I am almost there....

Rooster, I think you may still be in the first allocation. I'm in the second, and my build date wasn't till 6/26. No idea where my car is- I got the email that the car had been built in the second round of them a couple weeks ago.

Any other 2nd allocation people out there? I don't want to keep bugging Fubar and Budaman about my vin, so I haven't checked for two weeks- last time it was still status "10."

I ordered mine on 2/18 with a build date of 6/2. I think that's the second allocation.

I didn't get a delivery email, but the car arrived today. It's supposed to be ready at 7pm. VIN 2178

Hello All,

Elara, I'm in the second allocation (or at least the second boat).

My car was ordered into the Mazda system on 2/19 (even though I did not talk to the dealer until 5/4). The assembly (build) date was 6/5. The car arrived at Port H on 6/27. I know I missed the first boat because my vin status checks 10, 20, and 30 have all coincided with the second shipment. I got my 30 status a few days after the 27th.

My vin ends in 2787.

At this point I think there's little difference between first or second boat shipments. They are sending the cars out to dealers however they see fit. Though it seems dealers are receiving (more) cars without port installed options.

This parallels Aesop's fable the tortoise and the hare. There are cars at dealers right now where somebody can walk-in out of the clear blue, without any knowledge of the car, and get their 8. While the long time posters who where first to register, followed every scrap of news must sit and wait. Doesn't seem fair.

I only started this endeavor in May, so I figure 1, 2, god forbid 3 more weeks. I will just wait it out. But I'm crossing my fingers it comes this week, who knows.

EDIT:
Without Fubar's help I would have been totally in the dark, regarding ETA. My dealer hasn't a clue and that has worked out fine for me. I've been informing him of my Status, telling him how many cars are arriving to his dealership, letting him take a look at the Mazda training CD. He comes to me for information and he pretty much does what I tell him. Getting a good dealer, unlikely, finding RX8FORUM.com, PRICELESS!!!

Wink I'MIN THE SECOND ALLOCATION

My car was built on 5/30/03. It came over on boat #2 which arrived in CA on 6/27/03. I was able to cofirm that it arrived at Midlothian by train last Friday, July 11th. A friend who is high up in the Mazda management here told me that because of all the port options being installed on my car, it would not ship to the dealer (40 miles away) until late this week or early next week. Worst case? I'll be driving by this day next week. Best case? I'll have it be Saturday. here's hoping.
VIN # 2025:D

I'm a second allocation too. Vin 2177. My car's been status 30 for at least two weeks with no port installed options. By my way of thinking (and of course I dont have any facts - because there aren't many people in the know apparantly), I should have the car sometime this week or early next week if Boo's car with a gaggle of port options is on the same schedule. I had the option of snagging 3 dealer allocations now, but I guess I'll sit it out for mine - no one seems to have the same equip around here.

If you think we're not glamourous, think how 3rd allocation folks must feel.

I hope I can get this post back on track. There is a difference between the 2nd boat, and the 2nd Allocation. Our 2nd allo cars where built from 5/26 - 6/6 and then sat there until 6/26 when they were shipped. You are not 2nd allo cars if you do not fulfill this simple criteria. I want to hear about "30-ported" cars from these boats that left Japan at the end of June with cars built back at the end of May (typical VINS: 1675 - 2400). Thank You.

Hmmm...mine is VIN 4752 (last 4 digits), yesterday I saw the printout at my dealer, the location was indicated as just "PRT", i.e. Vancouver port.

while i was supposed to be 1st allo. i ended up being what i think is 2nd allo. i think your dates are a little probably because of the whole delay the dates had changed. anyway from my built email: "Your RX-8's Production Date: 20030610" just outside your 6/6 deadline. my car reached the port on friday last (july 11th) which has been confirmed thru several sources including (unbelievable i know ) my dealership. i hope to take delivery end of next week or beginning of the following. of course i hope for sooner since all they have to do is put the changer in and put it on a truck.:D

ps- it was on what i believe to be the 3rd west coast ship.

Thank you Mark.
You are definately a 2nd Allo.

I wish you would have told me you got your car at least at port though

Enjoy the wait. Let me know what happens to you as soon as it does. I think we should get the boat docked in the next week or two . . . then the mystery delivery time.

I've got to say that I think your criteria are wrong. I'm in the second pre-order set (allocation if you want to call it that, but it's confusing against the dealer allocations which are different from the pre-orders) due to when my order was placed. No other criteria. Pre-orders were taken in 3 waves, originally slated to be approximately Jan, Feb, Mar. For some reason they shortened the Jan period by a week or two which pulled my order back into the second wave.

Car was built 29 May, arrived Port H CA 27 Jun. No news yet on delivery.

I think Edge is in the 2nd allocation. However, since he is in the west coast, their ship has come in. Expect delivery in the next 7-14days. The problem is with the 2nd allocation shipping to East Coast Ports (NJ, JAXPORT, etc)

Let me know if any JAXPORT guys get an "at port-30" status.

I called the customer service line and finally Good News. The cars have arrived at Port in Jacksonville. They have been there since 7/18/03. We are expecting release from port and final delivery in 10 working days from arrival. Add another day for transit to ATLANTA and my delivery day is approx. Aug 1st or 4th.

At least it is a date.

I could kill somebody right now. It looks like second allocation car will be delivered before some first allocations. WTF is up with that. The only thing I can think of as to why my car hasn't been delivered is that it's infected with SARS and it's quarantined till next year. I'll even fly up to JAX and drive it back if they let me.
