27K miles in one year too many for an 05?

I was looking at an absolutely killer deal on a 2005 RX-8 MT GT. However it has 27K miles and it was first purchased in Aug. 31, 2005.

I would be buying it from the 2nd owner who bought it from a Mazda dealer. Clean Carfax report.

Should I be concerned about the mileage and break-in for this car considering it is under a year old?

Thanks!

i dont know what to say about buying it 2nd hand, but I will tell you that I bought my 05 in october of 2005 with only 4 miles on it and I'm sitting at 25,000 miles right now only 9 months later. Unless it was abused a whole bunch I see no problem.

I put a ton of miles on mine for work, but they paid for milage so... eh

Just be sure you get a sweet discount on the price for all those miles.

So what exactly is this killer deal?

Looks like there are killer deals on a lot of RX-8's these days. If it's less than $20, I would
call it an okay deal. Keep in mind there are plenty of other cars to choose from. With that
number of miles, you're looking at 2 years worth of mileage and depriciation. I personally
would not pay more than $19K.

If you plan on keeping the car for a while and not put too many miles yourself, not
a bad option. But if you plan on driving it, you only have about 23K miles left for factory
warranty.

Also having 2 previous owners is not in your favor. Let us know what you end up doing.

Average mileage per year is 15K I think.... so 27K/yr is quite over the average mileage. But don't base your judgement of this soley on your purchase.

I decided to pass. The guy was in a hurry to sell and I needed more time.

He was asking around $15K for a 2005 GT with 27K miles.

I mean that's a pretty damn good deal but that mileage is absurd. If it was in top condition and serviced well, $15k would be a steal for a '05 GT with that many miles.

Yea, hate to kick you when yur down, but assuming everything on that car was sound, $15K for an 05 with only 27K was indeed a steal! Comes as no surprise it's gone already.

However, keep yur eyes open...you'll find a brand new 05 out there in the low $20K range if you look hard enough. Or if used really is your thing...up in the high teens used.

There were some other circumstances that made me feel a bit wary too.

I was definitely not unaware that it was a KILLER deal.

well i drove 39,000 miles my first year... which was quite a drop since I moved closer to work.. i used to average about 70,000 a year. If anything a really high mileage young car should have a great engine provided the maintenance was done on it and you know it was almost entirely highway miles.

With the gas price of $3.29 a gallon, you would spend $10,468 a year on gas!

wow...almost 200 miles a day would be some intense driving. Musta been doing some serious highway commuting in a huge city! And assuming gas to be that expensive, i'd HOPE that he's getting some of that compensated by him company!

Otherwise...wow...it adds up awefully quick!

Curious to know where aseras did all this driving...

Let me guess. You saw the deal online, and contacted him through email. He sent a email story about either: he got a new job and is moving out of town, his (insert relative) is in trouble and needs financial help, he's moving out of the country.

Scam.
