Lightbulb 26K on RX8, is that good?

Hey all, I'm new here but I have been reading the threads for awhile. Great site!

Anyways, I just spoke with the General Manager for a Mazda dealership and I told him what I wanted:
- Winning Blue
- 6spd
- Cloth seats
- No Package

He said that's hard to find or no dealership would have that, and that they would have to order it. So I said I can wait. So he goes, "You need to do this order by this Sunday though so it could be made on October and delivered on November. Price tag would be $26000 - $27000" Does this sound like BS or he's just being a great guy?

I would not want the DSC or TSC on it since several of you here are already having a frenzy about disabling those.

Should I drive this price lower or 26K is ok?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

And you're in the Bay Area?

Jump on that opportunity. The price in OC on the website is 27,200 stripped bare with cloth seats.

It is actually really reasonable since you are not asking for something in demand. Usually people order the GT package because the leather seats are just great, they rest of the GT package is not that apealing to me (oh heated seats too). :D

I'm waiting on a 6 speed no extras for 27.2 (not including the 500 back and free service), which is MSRP.

If you can get one under MSRP, you're getting a good deal, especially in the bay area.

I just ordered a new RX-8. I sent an email to a dealership in West Des Moines, Iowa offering 2% above dealer cost. The cost is available on websites such as nadaguides.com and kbb.com (kelly blue book). The dealership responded back said yes! That was a surprise after another dealership said they would accept nothing less than window sticker.

You can go to Mazdas web site and do a search for the car that you are looking for. I think you can break it down by color, transmission and options. The site can tell you about every car within 100 ?? miles of any zip code you input.

I just talked to a local dealer about a base automatic with a window sticker of $25700. She said she would sell it for $24500.

Dealer cost for manual w/ cloth and no packages is 24,659 with a sticker (MSRP) of 26,680. In Iowa I could order this car for 2% over cost or $25.152.

My experience in the past is some dealers want your commitment and your nonrefundable deposit to get you tied up with them. Then for whatever reason they string you along and are not able to deliver the car when promised. Usually they will not commit themselves in writing on when the car will be actually delivered and will not agree to refund the deposit if it does not appear on their lot in the specified time. If someone goes to the dealer and is willing to pay more for "your" car the dealer sells it to them and tells you they are still waiting on your car. This is especially true when the dealer offers a "short" deal with minimal profit of your purchase.

There are many people who ordered their rx8 in January and February but because of dealer allocations got their cars a month or two later than other dealers who just ordered rx8s for "stock" inventory.

Just a few "tricks of the trade".

I know my wife and there is no way she put any non-refundable deposit down. From what I gathered from the salesperson, she walked in, told the salesperson what she wanted, said she wanted it in one week, and they got it to her for by birthday.

if you want to buy it, get the price in writing from the dealer. 26000 to 27000 now, is likly to become the full 27600 MSRP unless you let them know you're not going to do that now. Get a solid number and commitment, then celebrate!

I called Hiley Mazda Dealer, they have 10 in stock
well, there is Automatic, base model
16 in
cloth
base, not one single option
he said its 25,100, but he said 24,500 would be acceptable.
Now thats a good deal. my parents said i can only get a automatic, not a manual. So is that a good deal.

The BEST move I think anyone can do, who is asked to leave a deposit...is use a Credit Card......if the dealer doesn't behave or the deal goes sour...dispute the charge.

Talk is cheap. I keep hearing of all these great deals, but until you have the offer in writing, signed by both sides, there is no deal. Any dealer can tell you anything over the phone or in an e-mail to get you into the showroom. Once there, fees and "a this and a that dollars", etc seem to come into play and all of a sudden, you're right back to MSRP.

25 year of buying cars has emphasized this to me over and over again. Until there are signatures from both sides on accepted offers, there is no deal.

I don't think the people here posting "I got mine for X dollars" understands the situation in the bay area (goes for any highly desireable car).

I have heard of only 1 case where someone in the bay area got their RX8 for 500 below sticker. All have been at sticker, or above.

If you can get a MT plain for 26k go for it. But I never saw one. Tell him to give you the order in writing and ask to put in the contract that if he does not deliver as promise you don't take the car and your money back.

Invoice(dealer price) on a base 6 speed is $25179 including destination charge of $520.

Edmunds shows a True market value of $25969 for me.That is a -$81 regional adjustment, and add $13 for Nordic green.WIth othe colors the price may go up or down. The TMV is what others are paying region wide for a similarly equipped car.
I am going to try to work as close to Invoice as I can.I amy even lease for 2-3 years.I am guessing most dealers now in my region are trying to sell these 04's especially ones without the DSC/TC package.

Remember the dealer buys the car for even less than the invoice price really when they figure in holdbacks and such. They can sell at invoice and still make out in most cases.

What is $2,500 cap cost reduction? Is it a factory rebate?
