If you just got such a great deal on your car, why are you suddenly ragging on your dealer? Is this some weak form of reverse psychology?

Nope. Not a chance.

8koff. PM with me an offer to sell at that price, listing a VIN# and all options.

If bona fide, I may have a friend who is interested.

The deal is legitimate.... Those are the numbers for the Titanium I ordered. It is also close to what a dealer here in Pittsburgh is offering (but they didn't have the right car). So far the people I've talked to at Autobarn have been very professional.

If you are seriously interested but concerned that this is a fake, pm me and I'll be glad to talk with you offline (I have a 412 area code, which is a long way from Chicago!)

I was very glad to come across this in the other thread, or I would never have known about it. I'll leave it up to the moderators to deal with the forum rules.

So you're the guy who got the Titanium Gray, huh?

That's the one my wife wanted me to get, but by the time I placed my order, silver was the only color they had left.

Yes, this deal is legit -- MSRP of $32,040, and I'm getting it for $22,790.

I can't pass final judgment until mine is delivered next week, but so far, so good.

well according to the thread poster this supposed deal was over yesterday.

I find it really odd that those praising this deal joined within the last couple days one of you about a week ago and 95% of your posts are here and the other thread on the subject. But I guess I'm skeptical by nature.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was actually generalizing about car dealers; the whole process at Evanston I've got no complaints about. Everyone in sales and service were nothing but cordial and professional. to Autobarn!

No reason to be a doubting-Thomas, dude. Nobody's forcing anything on anybody. All those guys did was publicize a deal they were giving (albeit a bit late )

I have been lurking on the site in order to make my decision about buying an RX8, and didn't join until after placing my order. I understand that this might look a little odd, but until I actually have my car I don't have much reason to post in the other discussions!

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything - the only reason I spoke up is that I didn't want someone to be scared off by thinking it was some kind of scam and not get their car because of it!

Yes, I confess -- I'm part of a vast conspiracy by Autobarn to post information about a fake deal on this message board so unsuspecting fools will be suckered into buying RX-8s at prices much higher than advertised.

And, yes, I confess that I'm new to this board. I had always admired the RX-8 but frankly thought it cost more than I was willing to spend. Then a couple of weeks ago a local dealer started advertising '05 models at $4k off list price, and that piqued my interest.

So I started to research the car, did a Google search and found this board. Here is where I found out about the Autobarn $8K-off deal. So please forgive me if I haven't had time to rack up 1,400 posts just yet.

And, for the record, I live 1,000 miles away from Chicago and I have no affiliation whatsoever with Autobarn -- other than buying a car from them. Whether you believe that or not is irrelevant to me.

As I've said twice now sceptical is a more accurate term. Hell yeah it's a great deal if it's legite. It's not the deal that got my undies in a wad it was the tactics used. Should we allow every dealer who has cars to sell post here on the forum? I say HELL NO!!! That's why there's a certain protocal you must follow to become a forum vendor.

I don't question that this deal was legitimate. I just think it's interesting that the salesman posted it on the last day of February at about 9PM Eastern. The "1 Hour Left" was probably just a ploy so that he could make his numbers for the month.

This serves as a reminder to always buy your car on the last day of the month, or better yet, the last day of the year.

I called twice and inquired about the deal on behalf of a friend.

The dealership never even bothered to call me back.

What could happen after 1 hour except that the deals would only get better until all the '05s are gone?

Ideally I'm planning on waiting for possible '07 improvements, but price is always a factor for this Dad, and if I need to buy sooner (like real soon) what kind of best deal should I expect to make on an '05 still sitting around:

6-speed MT?

6-speed MT Sports Package?

6-speed MT Grand Touring Package?

I've looked around for a more legitimate pricing thread, but haven't really found one so please feel free to direct me to such.

Thanks, everyone, from the bottom of my Mazda rotoray loving heart!

Here's one: http://www.senatorford.com/

The page says it's a base model but it really is a GT with the spare tire and cargo net. They've had it for quite a while, maybe they will deal!

Thanks, but I won't have any trouble finding the cars--am just looking for good info on pricing from long-time RX-8 Club members. Good luck!

Woohoo! I heard from the auto shipping company today. My RX-8 is (finally!) on the truck and headed my way. It will be here Tuesday.

Well, the car arrived on Tuesday (3/14) as promised -- brand new, perfect condition.

The only snafu was that they forgot to send my dealer tag with the car so I couldn't legally drive it for a couple of days until they overnighted that to me.

I am loving this car! And I love the deal I got on it.
