$500 Gerber Rebate

I'm sure this was posted before but it's not easy to find and it saves $500 on a new Mazda so it's worth reposting:

I sent my info in on Friday and got it emailed to me Tuesday night. Take in to consideration Monday was a holiday. That was pretty quick. The first dealer I dealt with didn't even tell me about it! I would like to know what Gerber has to do with a Mazda and what they get out of it?!?! Strange but hey....$500 is $500!

Is that for real? It seems kind of strange, but worth it if true...

link isn't working for me either? what are the qualifications for the rebate? can you send it in after you buy the car, or does it have to happen when you are at the dealer?

Sorry, I didn't check this thread cause it got moved. I'm not sure what the problem with the link is but just put www.mazdausa.com\gerber into your browser. It will take you to a screen that asks for your name, address and email address. My dealer in Mechanicsburg, PA told me about this and I filled it out. I did this on a Friday and had a $500 rebate form emailed to me on Tuesday night. It is real and it works! I have no friggin idea why this is from Gerber and YES it's the baby food Gerber!

who really cares

you can get 500 cash back for anything at mazda!
500 for out of college
500 for going into college
500 for previous Mazda owner
500 for previous ford owner
500 for test driving the rx8 20 times
500 so that you don't try to negotiate the price

What Mazda advertisement are they talking about in step 2:: "Bring the certificate along with the Mazda advertisement you received, to any participating Mazda dealer." I am assuming the certificate is the e-mail but what is the "Mazda advertisement"? Anyone else use this thing?

Question

I received the email certificate a day after I purchased the car for my husband. I am wondering whether if there's a way for me to get the 500 cash rebate. Is it too late now? I called MazdaUSA, they told me that I need to go back to the dealer and have them fill out a form and submit it to MazdaUSA and they will review the case. My question is, how am I going to get the 500, is the dealer going to send me the check or they will just simply tell me that the rebate is already included in the total amount of the purchase price. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I negotiated my price, paid for the car, then slapped myself for forgetting the $500 college grad rebate. I told the dealer, they filled out a form, had me fax them a copy of my diploma, then 6 weeks later I got a check in the mail from Mazda.

Mine said the same thing. It appears that folks got a SNAIL MAIL come on from Gerber (baby food folks) with the URL for the $500 certificate. I guess it is a YMMV deal, since if the dealers asks for it you (and the folks here) are not going to have it to produce. I did see where one person was turned down for it, they had the certificate in hand but the dealer said they didn't qualify since they didn't get the snail mail flyer.

I went in and didn't need an ad along with it. I just got PM'd by someone who used it last night at his dealer without the ad. If they want your business they will honor the rebate. They will get their $500 back from Gerber anyway! I'd scan the ad if I had it. Tell them another dealer gave you the web address and that they said they'd honor it. That'll get them to take it.

I used the rebate in the purchase of my RX-8 the other day. The dealer did not require an ad at all, he just took the rebate, knocked off 500, and gave me the keys. (besides, he had already raped me on my trade-in what was $500 to him.)

Is there anyone out there that has the ad. i just got my rebate from mazda but the instructions state that bring in the ad that was mailed from Gerber. I was thinking of cutting the certificate box out and faxing it to the dealer. It would be much easier if someone would be kind enough to scan the ad.

I don't think anyone here got the real flyer. I just re-checked the link in the first post in this thread and it is now dead. So I assume Mazda is now wise to the game - folks are getting the rebate without being the target of the ad.

Might have just gotten more difficult to redeem the $500

That stinks. Luckily I had submitted my request before the link became dead. I recieved the rebate certificated through e-mail. What I did was cut out the part which said to send in the ad which came in the mail. Essentially it looks like a certificate coupon with my name, address and the certificate number. If they don't honor it, I'm going to raise hell. Hopefully they won't think twice (like some other people experiences) and all will be well. I'm wondering if I should stop payment on the separate $500 check I wrote?

It is working for me now as well. I guess their web server was down for a bit.

Still need a copy of that Geber flyer, though :D

Just tell them that another dealer told you about it and they will honor it. If the want yoru business they will honor it. After all...they will get their $$$ back from Gerber.

I know of at least 3 other people so far that used it without the flyer with no problems.
