$23K for used base 6SP?

Do you think $23K for a 6SP base with 6K miles sounds good? Dealer has some ridiculous price of $32K, but the salesman told me that they will do $25 because it's a slow month yada yada...

I don't want to overpay, I need your input. I'm thinking $23K is fair, $22K would be great but what should I expect to pay? Then I know where to start...

Thanks!

Invoice for a base 6MT (no options, including destination) is $25,391 (MSRP $27,200), according to CarsDirect.com. $23K sounds reasonable ... maybe offer $21K, work your way up? Just my 2 cents ....

Thanks for your $.02. I got it down to $22.9K, I'm walked and gonna go back in a couple of days to see if they go lower. They let me walk so chances are no but I want to bring it under $22K. Wish me luck!

That's excellent--I got my auto sport package with 6,000 miles for $24.9K They had advertised it in the paper for that but when I got there they wanted like $29K but then I showed them the paper, ended up with a decent interest rate 6.9% especially since this is the 1st car in my name.

Other thing to consider; is this car a demo? If so it has had a hard 6K miles.

Well... nothing happened. I went back to the dealer with a check in hand ready to buy but they gave me some line about the price quoted to me was a mistake. and if I am still interested they can offer it to me for $24.5. This isn't the first time they screwed me.

In case someone from Hawaii is reading this, it's the JN dealer by the airport. I've heard good things about them but it's not the first time they've tricked me like that.

Anyway, I'm thinking about saving my money to try to get my hands on the new Vette. I've never been a big fan of those cars but the new one looks sweet!

I had my heart set on getting an 8 but can't handle the dealers here. I've left 3 dealerships with an auto loan check in hand because the sales people and their games. When I go to a dealer, I basically tell them if my price gets refused twice I'm out. Probably not the best way to negotiate, but I'm not too patient when I'm the buyer. I don't like how dealers try to make it seem like they're doing YOU the favor...

reading this entire thread, i'd say you erred in your negotiating methods. it is the dealership's priority to keep you "in the box" and in the door. they will try every method possible to get you to buy on the spot. that's the way the auto selling world goes. as long as you stay 'in the box', the advantage is yours. once you walk, game over. there was no price mistake on their part. it's simple psychology. think about it... when you come back in, they think, "hey, we got this guy by his ***** now, he wants this car, it's a seller's market, let's jack him". the first time in the dealership, they're weary, they think you're scared and they aren't sure you really want the car. next time around, have the pre-approved loan in hand, READY to buy. that'll really knock their socks off and lower your final price. g'luck man.

Thanks for the input. Makes a lot of sense. In response to the last bit of advice, I went to the dealer with the check letting them know that I'm ready to buy if my price was met... I'm just too impatient.... or maybe I'm too much of an a**hole when talking to them.

I have my base 6spd with 1200 miles for sale at $23900. Car is 100% showroom. Even at this price and condition I have had no offers. I will proable just trade it.

That's a fair price and if we lived near each other I would definitely buy it from you but shipping it from FL to HI would cost $1800 minimum. If I didn't have to deal with shipping it's a much better deal to get it from you instead of a dealer.

Thanks for the offer anyway! Why are you getting rid of it?

I knew it would not work for you. I was just trying to give you a idea about pricing since it is the same car as you were looking at.
Good luck in finding your car.

I buy a new toy every year and going to get the new Mustang or Covette in a few months when they come out. I thought I would get more money for my RX8 before they put some incentives out on them and kill the used market.

$23,900 seems OK, but unfortunately I have to say that RX8 owners who don't want their new 8 anymore for some reason are asking too much. I surf online and check prices, and these people are still asking anywhere from $25-30k. UHmmm, in case people don't know, that would literally be retarded for someone to buy "your" car. Interest rates on Person-to-Person cars are generally 1.5-2% higher. On top of that, you can get a new 8 for those prices depending on your options.

This doesn't really apply only to 8's, but to anyone selling a nice vehicle. And people wonder why used car sales are horrendous. Simply put, if you pick the wrong car when making a decision, or want to move on to something else, then people need to realize they are going to lose *** or need to find a clueless buyer to purchase the crazy high price.

Somebody said something about an S-plan. Ford owns 1/3 of Mazda right? Well I have an X-plan at my work, its for Ford vehicles, would it work for this?
