HAHA! That was me.. I think i had it up to about 105-110 and passed an explorer cop..
he came up to my window and said "well that was fun while it lasted"
although i didnt get a ticket, my friend is a pierce county police officer and he gave me a little bear sticker for my back window and the cop noticed it. he ran my information and it came back clean. i gave him the guys number ( I told him it was my brother in law) and he let me go. all he said was follow the rues of the road. I LOVE THAT STICKER.

You could always take it off and throw it + a 10mm(?) socket + phillips screwdriver in the trunk. "Oh, I forgot to put it back on, sorry! I've got it right here... I had it off to take some pictures yesterday" Or, you know, whatever excuse you want to use. I've done just that because I really think the front plate looks bad. It might help it might not if I ever get harassed about it. I drove an MX6 for years with no front plate and never got bothered about it.

I F'ing hate those Explorer cops. I can usually spot even the unmarked patrol cars a mile away because so few people drive those fugly things. I'd certainly love to have that sticker too. That would be a nice extra insurance policy.

sadly almost all cops in the Puget Sound area use laser because it works in traffic (radar is nearly useless there) and because they can afford it. Laser is practically undetectable (even though my radar detector has a laser detector). Although the Valentine One is better (although worse at radar), they still all suck. Only way to go is with laser jamming. Go to this website for some serious FYI:

http://www.speedzones.com/

Oh, and if anyone knows where to buy the Laserviel application please post or PM!

Check out this link to see where cops like to pull people over in the Seattle area:

405 through Renton is a racetrack apparently

Nice map dsmdriver! I think I'll pass that one on to a couple people I think could use it Interestingly, there are no statistics on either bridge. Traffic enfourcement used to be non-existent on the bridges but I have noticed a sharp rise in police presence on the bridges lately. Oh, and if any cops are reading this, here is my mathematical opinion of cops pulling people over on the 520 bridge and stopping all traffic.

Ticket income for city = 100 to 400

income loss for citizens (*.20 for taxes = city income). Business hours = business travel (call it 60% of vehicles.)
1000 vehicles * .6 = 600 business vehicles * 15 min delay = 150 manhours lost * $15/hr = $2250 dollars *.2 = 450 tax dollars lost. Yes very coarse (and conservative) but for gods sakes don't pull people over and stop the entire commute!!!!!!!!! </rant>

They have links to purchase that Laser Veil product on their site. It's $90 for a bottle that will do "8-10 cars". I'm curious about it. I may buy it and give it a go.

Eventually I'm going to get the Escort Passport SRX w/ laser shifters. I'll be picking one up off Ebay and doing the install myself because there's no way I'm going to pay Car Toys nearly $2000 for the unit + install.

Some nice thugs in Snohomish removed my front plate for me. Since the Snohomish police dept didn't feel it worse either their time or mine to file a report, I've been runnig plateless for a couple weeks. Now that I have a legitimate excuse, I'm a little less concerned about getting caught (I was pulled over in my 7 for several years ago).

I've been thinking about doing the faux billet grill like BrotherVooDoo's. If I do that, then I can't use the "I forgot to put it back on" excuse, as there'd be no place to put it!

I notice alot of cars without front plates. I Honestly dont think (from what i have heard and read) that its a big deal. just keep it in the car.

Also at a car show, i saw a STI with the plate cut down, and attatched to the passenger side sun visor, so if needed it just flipped down. it was pretty cool but its easier just to put it under the seat ans call it good
