I'm up in the Puget Sound region, living on the outskirts of Auburn, working downtown Seattle.

Placed my order yesterday, but haven't heard from dealers yet.. I'm thinking about sending email to every Mazda dealer in a 25 mile radius, simply to try and get a response from somebody...

Hey, I'll check in with a shout from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Won't be getting my RX-8 for at least a year.

Just a suggestion, don't forget to try some dealerships in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene. I know Miatas and sports cars are not huge sellers here due to a relatively lower income and bad winter driving.

I have dealt with Post Falls Mazda for many years, they are a top rated dealership and can likely provide a good deal with friendly service.

In Spokane, I'd try Foothills Lincoln Mercury Mazda and Appleway Mazda in that order.

Maybe Boise too? That's pretty far I'd guess.

Hope you find a great deal!

I live in Tacoma. Just finished up my deal at Russ Dunmire Mazda. My order has been confirmed by Mazda and I have a confirmation number. I can't wait (again). I did talk to Mazda NA today. They said that individuals who order under the pre-sale program will receive a series of e-mails so you won't have to keep bothering the dealership (who probably won't know anything anyway) about your car. They said you would receive an e-mail:
1. When the orde is received and processed at Mazda NA
2. When the factory accepts the order
3. When the factory assigns a VIN to your vehicle.
4. When build is complete and car is released.
5. When the vehicle hits the port of entry.

That will be cool. I hope it works out that way.

Brad

I still haven't heard anything from Sound Mazda in Renton (where we bought our Miata), the dealer I initially specified in the order process... I also emailed the Online/Fleet Sales guy at Milam Mazda in Puyallup, but haven't heard from him.

I went back into the Build&Order section on the Mazda website, and changed the dealer to Fugate Mazda out in Enumclaw, and got a helpful response, so I'll probably go that route..

Hey, 3Rotor, who did you talk to at Mazda NA? I checked the online FAQ (at the beginning of the Build&Order), and it seems to indicate that if a dealer doesn't have allocations available, then you have to wait until general availability.. I don't really want to wait that long.. Maybe I'll send a note to rx8orders@mazdausa.com, as specified in the FAQ...

This is a copy of the e-mail I received after I submitted my online order. I called the number at the bottom.

Subject: Mazda RX-8 Order - Important next steps

Dear Brad,

Thank you for submitting your online order request for a 2004 Mazda RX-8! We have forwarded your inquiry to the dealer you selected.

To ensure you are one of the first to experience the exhilarating performance of this revolutionary sports car, remember you MUST VISIT YOUR DEALER TO COMPLETE YOUR ORDER.
At the dealership, you will confirm your requested order, complete any necessary paperwork, and provide a deposit (if required by your dealer).
Your Mazda dealer will submit your requested order to Mazda North American Operations.

PLEASE NOTE: Your car will NOT be ordered unless submitted by your dealer.

Throughout the order process we will keep you updated with email notifications of important milestones leading up to the moment you take delivery of your own Mazda RX-8.
After you have completed the order through your dealership, your dealer will process and place your order request.
Stay tuned and we will send you an email when that occurs.

For more information on what to expect in this order process and the timing involved, please visit our FAQ at the link below:

Jumpin' in from Pullman, WA. I've never owned a rotary car, but I'll seriously look at the 8 in the next few years, once I've been out of college for a while and the loans are payed down a bit. It's a gorgeous car, and it has pretty much everything I want/need. Can't wait to see what the aftermarket cooks up for it (turbos? supers?)!

Sweet, I wish I would have taken the 4 year route through college instead of the 6 year plan I am on. Otherwise I would have ordered mine by now as well.

Do you guys have any Idea how much you are gonna have to pay for your cars?

$31,100... MSRP for mine! yeah! Got it at University Mazda in Seattle. Drove 1 1/2 hours to get there (live across the water in Bremerton), but hey... it was worth it! Besides, they actually called me and wrote me back the same day i made the request on mazdausa.com. Put $1,000 down as deposit and ordered Sunday (Feb. 9th... my birthday...) Talk about a great B-Day present! Gonna have to be kissing up to the wife for years for this one... might even let her drive it! (might)

Hello all, good to hear all of the excitement about getting you own RX-8, I could not be more pleased. I live in Seattle and bought mine off the lot at Glen Grant Mazda in Burien, where I might add they have about 8 in stock, price as marked was 38,000 for the full meal deal minus the Navigation System. Got them worked down to 33,000 by simply refusing to pay the "Market Markup" and drove it off the lot for 31,000 even. This is the MT model, black on black, gorgeous car, best car have ever driven and this coming from someone who just lost a Jaguar X-Type 3.0 in a divorce. Can't go wrong. If you visit Glen Grant let me know and I will drop my name to you so you can drop it to Glen Grant, ask for Gary! Good luck all.
