Wa City websites
Wa City websites
I've been doing some internet research to liven up the drive description at TWR, and have come to a realization: Most of Washington's cities WANT to be viewed as the most boring place on earth. I don't expect every town to have some gigantic rock festival, but they've all got history. Yeah, it's local history, and for the most part it may not even be of much impact on the world stage, but play it up folks. If you once had a crazy mayor who like to sit on the window sill of his office with his legs danlging out over main street, say so. If the firehouse once burned to the ground, mention it.
Sorry, just had to vent. When a former logging town with a colorful verbal history makes the Tulip Festival their only claim to fame, I think there's a problem. I guess I need to start spending more time at the library, leafing through traditional books. Too bad the really intersting stuff is locked away in the library of each individual town.

Did you contest your ticket?
Yes, in general most towns are boring on a day to day basis. However, any town that's been around a while has had at least one crazy person. And if you've had a crazy person, you've had something interesting happen. I just would have expected some of the off-the-wall stories that you can pick up within 30 minutes of entering a town if you're willing to talk to a couple folks would make it to city websites. I mean, you may as well do what you can to make people want to visit.
I guess my next step is calling historical societies and trying to get some juicey tidbits from them.

Of course, they could bring up the topless car wash...
