Time for tint
Hey everyone--
I'm looking to get some tint in my 8 and talked to the Dark Side in Seattle. He said he'd do a discount and offer $200 or maybe less depending on how many people were interested. I'm going for 20% charcoal all around (his 20% is actually 17%, hehe).
Let me know if anyone is interested. I've heard great reviews of these guys.
Thanks,
Mike

Saturdays are good as long as it's not early in the morning. haha
I might not be able to this saturday though cuz I'm flying out on Sunday, so I gotta pack. But I'll be back before the weekend after this weekend.

I've had both my 8's done by him and my Toyota Tacoma. All were cash only jobs.
They do excellent work there.

$200 is a bit expensive for tint. I got mine done for $130 including a lifetime warranty incase it starts to peel or bubble. You shouldnt have to pay cash because he is tinting your front, i got mine tinted all the way around and paid with my card.

So....here's the good news.... I just talked to my sister over the e-mail cuz she recently took her 4 runner and her boyfriend Acura TL to this place called Prestige Tint in Lynnwood for window tinting.
The owner name is Andy and the guy did the Acura TL for $200 flat (cash). I assume it might be about the same for our cars. My sister said she would talk to the guy since all her friends went there for tinting, if we want to go there. The guy probably might do it for around 200 bucks......
He's also the tint guy for Aura of Lynnwood. The phone number is 425 712 8353, if you guys wanna call and find out. But to get a discount price I think, my sister has to talk to him first...
It doesn't matter it's just one car or two....... I think I'm going there this weekend!

Top 4 pics are my tint. Worth the money. Dan is an artisen.
Note, the Acura is a MUCH easier car to tint than the 8. To do the 8 right they should remove the wing windows and their latch/hinge. And the rear window is a complex set of curves, and with the defroster, there can be quite a lot of work involved.
I wouldn't pay that what I did for plain tint, but for this sort of extra work, I don't mind spending extra.

I was looking to see if we had received any bad reports about Prestige, but didn't see any. If you're interested and you didn't already find this thread - here are all the lessons learned and tips, etc. when we looked into getting ours done. Several of us did it around the same time...

True....But she paid only 275 for her 4runner and 4 runner has bigger windows..meaning they had to use a lot more material, right? Anyway...
I assume it wouldn't be more than $300 ( if my sister talks to him). He got to do about 30 cars because of my sister. All her friends and coworkers went there in about last 5 months and my sister hasn't heard any complain. She also is pretty happy with her tint.......
But in any case..........I'll find out soon enuff....:D Besides I just want a plain tint...no fancy stuff for me..
Your car looks great, Kris.

well
crafted_soul-- the darkside guy said 250 is the normal price, but he'd do 200 if two cars went. if we have more, he'd go less, but he did commit to 200.
what do you think? we don't have to go at the same time so you can work around your schedule; I can just call and make sure we both get the discount. you in?

tint can vary quite a bit depending on the brand of film used and frankly; how good the installer is.
I paid over $200 for my tint job and I could not possibly be ANY HAPPIER! I know I could have paid $150 somewhere here in Socal but you get what you pay for and tint is definitely something you want done right the FIRST time.

When we did it at the end of 2006, there were about 5-6 of us and Carlos charged us $160, plus tax. If you read the other thread I provided the link for ^, it will give you the name of the film he uses, I can't recall the name of it right now, but it's supposed to be one of the better brands. The installation of mine was perfect.

I really didn't know anything about tint, and a bunch of guys at work knew a guy at a Accutint and got us a special group deal. I got ceramic 35% tint on sides and back (doesn't interfere with radio signals in the defog lines) and the lightest dyed tint on the windshield (poor job there). I think I got had, but all my coworkers said it was a good deal.
