I have been debating on tires also but I am hoping this is the worst part of our winter. I think I will spend 1k next winter on a beater car instead though.
A beater is more though... you need to register it, it takes its own gas, its own insurance and you need a place to store it (which I don't really have a place).

Very true, but I am bassically driving a snow plow now with my bumper, if I had put my lowering springs on I would have been home all week. With no place to park it though I would for sure get the tires instead. I may still.

Just wanted to put my $0.02 here even though this is an old thread.

During the snow i was with 0 traction, i mean stock tires, getting a bit bald slick.

I found these from a friend who swears by them...

http://autosock.com/

got a pair from a store in issaquah, and I too stand by them, a few words of warning, if you got big hands like me, its sometimes a PITA to get them on since my hand barely fits between the tire and fender. and like it says, it uses friction, so if you are on snow or ice your good, but any partial coverage, take em off, and DONT spin your tires in these, i think i burned a few spots on these by spinning my tires to the concrete. but since i cant get chains, i keep these in the trunk and they are awesome in a tight pinch.

ALSO lol they wont help if your high centered on ice like I was a few times.

I thought these were tie down hooks not tow hooks. The difference being the structural integrity of the hook point.

Was the winning blue 8 that was abandoned on 520 near Marymoore (during all the snow) someone here? I was so sad when I drove past it in my truck. It looked cold and lonely.
