Hey, so, after asking some people with 8's, i was directed here to get a better answer...

You guys all love your 8's and well, i love my rx-7. its an 89 with some mods. I love my engine, but my interior needs some work....

For those of you planning to get new seats, new steering wheel, ect ect, I would love to take the parts off of your hands. Got a new seat for $300, i'll buy your stock seat for what you paid for your new one, reasonably of course.

So far, i havn't been able to find any interior parts for the RX-8, particularly seats. The factory wants nearly 3k for a seat, a SINGLE seat... and i'd prefer not to blow 6k on seats alone.

My plan is to make what is already a beautiful car, into a dream... lets call it an RX-7.5 the old FC exterior, with a revamped rx-8 interior.

If anyone has plans, feel free to hit up my email, leasem@wsu.edu to get in contact with me. granted, i wont be able to buy your entire interior next week persay, but, i'd love to set something up with someone planning to ditch some of their stuff.

Well -- 3K for a seat is outrageous... it's very hard to belive that 20% of the price of my car is for the front two seats. Just look for ones that got in a wreck is your best bet.


As a side note on seats: I see the SRS Airbag logo on the back of my seat, does that mean our RX8 seats (i have the GT model) actually has airbags embedded in the seats themselves? (for say the rear passengers?)

The reason the seats are so expensive... you can't just buy a 'seat'.

you have to buy the mounting brackets, the thing to make it slide, the back, the lever to adjust the angle of the back... the headpiece, the little triagle in the head piece, ect ect... hence a 3k total... totally. lame. 3k total.

and yea, the recking yards have been checked... theres not many people trashing thier 8's yet, they just get them fixed and the factory takes the parts, or something...

the price of the seats isn't all that outrageous if ya think about it. leather, powered, and even include airbags...airbags are expensive as hell to buy so i'd say that's a reason for them to charge as much as they are saying. That's still High $$$ though.

as for the ? about the airbags that was posted...
the seats have an airbag that deploys right next to you around your upper chest/shoulder area. There's 6 airbags in the RX8 including these and the two in the front pillars and the ones in dash and Steering wheel.

your best bet would be looking in a junkyard to find a seat with it's airbags used and see if you can get a good price and maybe just stich em up...

i found a pic in another thread that shows the seat airbags deployed, deflated yet deployed...
