ROAD TRIP USA!!!! 8000 miles, one rx8, two drivers, no sleep X(

UPDATE************
Today, Dec, 30th 2015 is the fifth year anniversary of this epic trip! So, I decided to come back through and update with photos I took. And report I STILL OWN THIS RX8!!!!! Find me on instagram as VASHCLOUD and right now the Rx8 dont hate is at 145k miles, original engine! WOOT!!! ANYWAY ENJOY!!!!
******************

SO!

Its leave time again here in the army. Time to go home and see family....

However, this time instead of flying... I am DRIVING! In the rx8! Did all my fluids and services and now im ready togo and will be leaving today!

The RX-dont-h8te will be traveling about a total of 8 thousand miles in a week and a half round trip! Will it make it? IDK! but we shall see..... The ultimate test of reliability!

Must be New York, to California, to New York, to Dallas, to New York haha.... Seriously though where on earth are you going that is going to be 8,000 miles round trip? Isn't the US only about 3,000 miles wide?

RIWWP drove his RX8 from Connecticut to LA and back for SevenStock. I don't think you'll have a problem with the car. Mountain passes and the weather will be another matter.
I drove from Chicago to Daytona (for the race) and back, non-stop except for gas, but that was only about 2500 total miles. I've made this trip twice. The ride and seats were comfortable.

Other than getting an oil change when its due you should be all good. I have taken a number of long trips in my 8 and never had any issues, other than the blizzard I hit on I-80 in IN Jan 08. My last round trip from IL to CT was on Progress springs and Koni's and even then it was plenty comfy (had my 65 yr old mother riding shotgun and she didn't complain about anything except getting in and out).

I didn't see anything about tires.....I hope you are on a set of Allseason tires with decent tread otherwise you could be in some trouble if you hit any snow or ice.

From where you are now, I'm guessing you are about 12 Hr + out of Chicago. This puts you right at the start of morning rush hour. If you pick up the pace just a little bit and get here an hour earlier, you will be helping yourself out.
