I think you would enjoy it and learn a lot. Plus most people chicken out when it rains so you get the whole track to youself
And leave TC and DSC on. You can easily get the tail out with it on and, for me, I'd rather have it save me and keep going than waste time going off track and coming in to the pits just because you gave it a hair too much throttle. You know when you step over the line you just don't spin because of it.

Than PR. I've been told the run offs are much better at PIR and it's a lot more forgiving to mistakes.
I'd second that... once or twice. The first 4 AutoX events of this season were wet and by the time I got to the first day where it started to dry a little, I'd forgotten how to drive in the dry.
Even at AutoX speeds, it's unreal how much less grip you have in the rear. Our ABS is incredibly good though, so it always surprises me how well we can still brake.
For the clubs that are around much, you usually have to do a skill day first like Porsche's.
Scott, you should really go out on a wet day of you have the chance. I've done two wet sessions since I've been in Oklahoma (we get down pours not drizzle like in WA) but I learned SO much. You have to be so sensative on the throttle but I was surprised how fast we could still go and feel safe. Braking is effected the least followed by turning and accelerating. You can get on the brakes pretty good but you have to make sure you come off them super smooth and have a super smooth turn in and transition to maintenance throttle. Once you're through the corner you just can't get on it like you would like to but you just have to make small adjustments so you don't over-do it.

Wow, that's pretty interesting. I never thought of it helping me learn car control, but what an excellent learning tool/situation. I guess I'll just need to man up and go for it. And about the DSC, that stays on in the dry!!! My car would not be here without it.
How's OK? What track are you driving out there?

There are other clubs in the area that drive out at Pacific Raceways like the Porsche Club and the Alfa Romeo club, I don't know how to get a hold with them, when they drive, nor the costs. The $555 is only for the school with Proformance, after that it's about $240-$280 for Proformance driving days.
You might also try the autocross events, they are a lot of fun and relatively cheap ($35 and I think you get a cheaper fare because you're inder 25). The speeds are slower, but it really pushes your car and you, something to think about.

I've been driving out at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. It's hard for me to say this but I think it's better than Pacific. It's really fun, especially we run counter-clockwise. A full day at the track is only $95 and you get just as much time as a club day at Pacific. It's in BFE though. 2 hour drive and it's hard to find 91 octane anywhere but at the track for 4.50 per gallon.
Really fun though. I'm going there Saturday and i'll try to get an in car video for ya

How much is 91 on the street out there? it's around $3.19 here. That's not too bad for the convience.
Nothing wrong with liking another track better and you can't beat the price, there's just nothing like your first haha

Your car is so quiet... you can hear it from the other guy's car!
I'm gonna see if I can't find time to do the July thread tomorrow... get it out early.
Mike, if you're looking for PIR track days, check here: http://www.pnwhpde.com/schedule.htm It's my new source for HPDE events for these threads It includes clubs I didn't even know to look for.

I was running consistent 1:36-1:37's with a couple 1:35's in there. It was pretty hot and greasy out there though. My fastest time from the previous track day was a 1:36.8 and i know i'm taking a faster route around the course now. Just one example is that I used to have to cruise at the top of third on the straight up/down the hill because it wasn't worth it to shift. Now i'm grabbing fourth and actually using it for a significant period of time before the braking zone for turn 2. I guess that'll happen when you gain enough confidence to blaze through turn 1 at 75mph cutting over the curbing and tracking out all the way to the rumple strips

^^^ best money i've ever spent on my car. Seriously.
I don't recommend everyone spend as much as i did though. Cheaper seats would have done just fine but racing seats in general is a very wise investment.
