Thumbs down FYI - Bodyshops in Seattle

Preface: 7/13/05, sideswiped by Semi on I-5 north under the Convention Center. Limped into U Mazda, took their recommendation for Aurora Collision - suffering at time from concussion.

Here we are 3 1/2 mos. later, I've had my Shinka for a month out of that time. First it was 5 weeks at Aurora and well past my rental coverage (rental cars were Toyota Corolla and some Hyundai). $15K in damage, whole driver's side, minor frame damage. Pick it up the first time and more new rattles than you can imagine, go over to Yakima for the weekend and discover that the front end rather than carving corners is extremely nervous. Do the thorough hand wash and discover more "dead-spots" than believable (discover the dead spots are overspray that the idiots didn't bother detailing away), panel gaps are ****, are the left fender is puckering out, also discover they've damaged the piano black trim trying to clean it with something they shouldn't; stains on the headliner, .... Takes a week and back to Aurora for two plus more weeks (this time a Ford Taurus - at least it had Sirius and leather). Get it back again, previous rattles gone - new ones in it's place, panel gaps are close to factory, still lot's of dead spots in the paint, scratches on the clear lenses of the head lights and taillamps. Most disconcerting was finding that the Shinka wheels didn't wash and feel the same. They had to replace both on the left side along with the tires. Takes another week and back to Aurora for 2 plus weeks, this time stuck in a Hyundai Excel - the horror! While going over my complaints, they check the wheels - "I guess our refurbisher didn't get them right." Response, "check the estimate they were to be replaced, I expect that you'll have this handled correctly this time". Call in to check on status and determine, that shop has determined that while at U Mazda getting the front end sorted out, UMazda damaged the new wheel and had it repaired. Car went back there again for the 2nd new wheel, which UMazda damaged, third new wheel overnigted and not damaged. Pick up Shinka, rattles seem gone for first 6 miles - they're back; dead spots-overspray finally gone, confirmed through careful bath; wheels 100% perfect again; handling back to perfect. Scratches still on the lenses and piano black trim not right. Oh forgot to mention they broke the Sirius antenna the first go around, so instead of the OEM small rather unobtusive unit - new OEM unit is BIG and smack in the middle of the deck lid. I will say they put in the clear corners for free along with the stainless oil cooler covers. However, DO NOT GO TO AURORA IF YOU EXPECT PERFECTION IN YOUR REPAIR - AS THEY WERE TOLD I WOULD! ALSO DON'T GET SIDESWIPED IN YOUR BABY BY A SEMI.

I feel your pain. Two weeks after i got my baby, her whole front end was peppered by gravel blown across the freeway from an excavator conveyor belt. Of course i had to be going 95 when it happened. I had two to three millimeter chunks taken out of my lovely titanium paint from my bumper to my roof and little stars all over my windshield.

Took her to a place here in Utah that my insurance guy suggested. I was so excited to get her back that i missed all the overspray and little crap that they neglected to secure down after the paint job like, oh let me see, THE REAR FREEK'N PASSENGER WINDOW! was not happy.
