Me either (out here in western WA), but they're "out there". I saw a number of registered 8's in the shop at my local dealer this weekend up on the lifts getting new oil pans I'd guess.

So what's the correct protocol when you see another 8?

- flash your lights?
- wave
- give them a thumbs up
- spin the car 180 degrees and follow them until they stop and then compare oil levels?
- compare equipment levels and nod appreciatively ;-)

The "friendly wave" or the "high five" (when you have the top down) seem to be commonly used by Miata owners. I'm bummed though when people don't wave back.

Enjoy the uniqueness while it lasts!

OK, so this wasn't eastern WA, but it was my first time I'd seen another RX-8 on the road.

I was driving south on 405 west of Portland at about 10:45pm and spotted a black RX-8 still with the dealer plates on. I zoomed up and pulled alongside but the other driver didn't want to play so I decided to play cat and mouse with the Infiniti G35 driver I'd been tailing down I5 from Seattle.

This was my first long highway journey and I noticed that there's not much torque in 6th gear at 75mph, the G35 pulled away easily to overtake but with a downshift I was happy with the RX-8's ability to change speed. I was also driving through periods of heavy rain and the car handled perfectly. Very impressive!

I'm looking forward to having more RX-8s on the road to play with.

Tri-Cities boys

Cebat, I live about 3 blocks from your work. Are you the guy I met a few months ago (sorry, I can't recall your name) when I was looking at the rental space above and below you? You said in another post you are an MD, so I'm just assuming it may be you.

Rick, I'm not sure who you are, but if you guys see me around, I have a silver with GT package, and I just painted my calipers silver. No window tint yet. I park mine (on nice days) at West Richland Dental where I work. On bad days the Dodge Ram gets driven. I'm glad we don't have too many bad days around here.

Yesterday or Monday there was a yellow RX-8 at my work. I tried to locate which patient it belonged to, but no luck.

Well, I'm in the Meadow Springs area quite often so I'll more than likely see you around. I'll be the guy waving to you fron a dark red Chevy truck, a Blue 8 or a black FD.

work on the corner of leslie and gage. Not too sure if this is the place you are talking about. I am seeing more and more 8's in the area. There is always one parked in the back of the mall that I see, velocity red with strakes as well. Must work at the mall?

I have a winning blue, with mazdaspeed bodykit, don't drive it much though because Im moding it, and defenately not in this weather, Ive had it since july of 03, I beleive I was the first to have one in this area cause I preordered it and picked it up from foothills mazda in spokane, it was the only one that arived that day. I also have a red miata and a escort gt, I usually drive the miata around, to work and stuff so I dont put so many miles on the eight, I have about 13,000mi since then now so not too bad.

Too bad you don't drive it in the winter... well for us anyway not necessarily for the car. You should look us up in the spring. We have done the drive around CDA lake twice now and I'm sure that there are a few of us who will be doing it again when the weather cooperates. Raped8 and I have met up a few times and he is garaging his too. I was probably just behind you and one other owner in purchasing since I picked mine up on 10/20/03. Hope to see you around.
