Dyno Tuning Day with MazdaManiac 8-4-12 (Seattle Area)

Hey guys--

The time has finally come and we're booked for a dyno tuning day with MazdaManiac on August 4th in Kent, WA at Intec Racing.

The address is:

25911 104th Ave SE
Kent, WA 98030

We have the dyno booked all day so I'll edit this space for the exact times once they're settled. Jeff is arranging his flights now and should be in the night before on Friday the 3rd.

Theoretically we have space for more folks to join for either tuning slots or dyno runs as we'll only be scheduled to consume 6 hours with the three FI builds Easy and I have been working on. That leaves two hours free on the normal schedule and 6 hours free if we opt for the extended twelve hour schedule.

Please let me know if you have any interest and we can discuss timing and fees. Flat fees are charged by MM and the dyno shop for rental of the space and hire of the person to strap the cars on so the math will follow depending on who joins and what they're doing. In general NA cars use 1 slot (one hour) and FI cars use two. Current MMCCS customers aren't charged anything more for the service but non customers are charged a discounted $150 to reup their subscription (which is good for a subsequent six months) instead of the standard $300.

Anyway I'll be around on here between now and the fourth to get everything sorted so I'll leave it at that. If you don't want to participate but just want to hang out that's cool too so come on by.

Peace. :Peace:

I'll be there, but it may just be as a pit crew member, and add support as needed. lol

and1kidd 07-26-2012 08:52 AM

My car will be there physically and i will be there in spirit.

pdxhak 07-26-2012 09:28 AM

UGH!! I have a big project going live that weekend and not sure I can make it. Please PM/Text the cost anyway just in case. Unfortunately I will not know for sure until sometime next week when we have our go/no-go meeting.

FazdaRX_8 07-26-2012 04:32 PM

tempting,

your presence is always welcome. :) might be worth some pulls on a new dyno though.

come on over man. fi rx8 dyno day, can't get much better than that

RearDriveNinja 07-27-2012 09:22 PM

Wow, really wish my new engine was ready to go. I don't suppose you could ask Jeff if he could bring a Cobb AP down with him, I was going to order one on the 3rd anyway, and it would be awesome if I could pick it up from him while he is here. Will he only be here for the one day?

dondo 07-27-2012 09:53 PM

just send him an email and i'm sure he'll do it. and yeah just a day.

RearDriveNinja 07-27-2012 10:17 PM

I don't have his email, can you pm me it or where i can go to find it?

dondo 07-28-2012 12:17 AM

jeff at mazdamaniac dot com

TANKERG 07-28-2012 08:28 AM

I'll show up after work, and I would like to pull if there's room and it's not too late. What's the schedule?

dondo 07-28-2012 04:48 PM

show up around 10, clear out the cars they have in there 10-10.30 then get going at 10.30 until we're done. maybe 6 or 7pm.

TANKERG 07-28-2012 05:04 PM

I will see you Sat. afternoon.

Dima_MX6 07-29-2012 03:52 AM

I would love to go, at least for one pull just to see where the things are at with my ignition setup right now. Would love to know what the numbers would be, for a single pull at least, if you have any approximations.

dondo 07-29-2012 02:43 PM

if you're gonna get strapped on we might as well do three pulls since the loading/unloading takes the longest. I think it'll be around $30-$40 for 3

Nemesis8 07-30-2012 09:29 PM

Dang, my AP Dongle is not working. I'll be there to borrow a dongle for a test to see if that is what my problem is. No dyno for me as i am not ready.

That sounds pretty great actually. Sucks that I might be working as early as 2.30 pm this Saturday, and I work in Edmonds, which makes me wonder about the commute this Seafair weekend... But i would really love to get in on this, maybe go for a few pulls around 11am.

Let me know if there is any kinda sign-up/commitment needed. Thanks!

Nemesis8 07-31-2012 09:44 PM

:ugh2:

RU READY?

dondo 07-31-2012 11:40 PM

TANKERG 08-01-2012 09:35 AM

^ Sweet!

pdxhak 08-01-2012 09:36 AM

I'm officially out. A few things came up that is going to take up my money. I'm hoping to drive up and hang out though. Maybe I can sneak on for a couple of pulls just to see where my car is at :)

ANIBALRX8 08-01-2012 09:54 AM

Every time you guys do this I alway have plans. I will see if I can show up to see you guy, but I just got a new house that am starting to move in today!!!

Good luck with the dino!!!

and1kidd 08-01-2012 10:10 AM

Well everyone that can make it for either support or to dyno their cars should! With Jeff in town it would be a great time to get everyone together.

tangoshark 08-01-2012 01:10 PM

Ha.

I live in portland and taking the train do Seattle this Friday to pick up my first 8 from a forum member. Wish this was on Friday.

What does MMCCS customer mean? The car I am picking up already has accessport and I believe its tuned by MM remotely. Does that make me a MMCCS customer and only need to pay $30-40 for dyno pulls?

Thanks

David

you're not a MMCCS customer so if you want MM to tune your car on the dyno then you need to reup for 150 plus dyno/tune costs.

if you just want pulls you don't need to be a customer so it's just $40ish. i haven't worked out the exact number yet.

Nemesis8 08-03-2012 06:40 PM

Does Eric have bloody knuckles yet?

pdxhak 08-03-2012 07:10 PM

Nemesis8, you going tomorrow? Could I use your compression checker tomorrow?

Nemesis8 08-03-2012 09:28 PM

Yes, I will be there, and Mike has it at his shop.

pdxhak 08-03-2012 11:08 PM

Right on. Thanks :)

After a 1.5 yrs with the turbo I want to see how my compression is.

FazdaRX_8 08-04-2012 02:27 AM

thats a good idea

FazdaRX_8 08-04-2012 02:29 AM

I was hoping to make this but my wife's friend is having a wedding that day, super bummed

Dima_MX6 08-04-2012 05:19 AM

I'll try to make it. A little confusion as to the timeframe, so... what time is it all starting, tentatively?

ShellDude 08-04-2012 10:08 AM

He make it there OK? Looked like he had a helluva time at airport.

May require extra monster...

Hesselrode 08-04-2012 10:11 AM

Would love to see dyno chart.

TANKERG 08-04-2012 11:50 AM

From what I know, the festivities start at 10, but they are tuning 3 fi 8s out the gate, so that might take a while. It should go late into the afternoon, so pop on over anytime :)

Dima_MX6 08-04-2012 11:56 AM

Alright, thanks a lot!

So from what it looks like, I won't be able to squeeze in a dyno pull before 1 o'clock, which is fine, but I'll try to show up at least for support

dondo 08-05-2012 05:00 AM

Hey guys, thanks for coming out for the day! Sorry we didn't get any non MM tuned cars up there but it ended up being a loooong day. In fact, we just called it quits at 2.30am.

Many thanks are in order for Easy and MM. They stayed til the bitter end helping to get these cars sorted so we have a little to do list worked up now.

Also, thanks to all who came out. From what I remember this late we had Dan, Kevin, Scott and Scott, David, Don, Matt, Victoria, John, and Tim.

Unfortunately we don't have any really great dyno charts to put up but I'll get them loaded this week some time anyway. It does look like another dyno day is in order though after some mechanical adjustments are made so keep a look out or let me know if you're interested in a tune so we can schedule it. We should also have more time for dyno pulls the next time around.

There are some good stories and photos and videos floating around so we'll get those going in the near future as well.

Thanks again and goodnight.

Nemesis8 08-05-2012 09:52 AM

You most likely are sleeping in as I type this then lol

The best part was watching the look on the faces of the Intec Racing crowd when you wound up the supercharger - they all stopped what they were doing and looked at each other and were not sure to run, hide or what - it was priceless! It was like testing a Boeing 787 engine.

The turbo was a beautiful build, and it will anneal itself together eventually. It seemed to be alive up there on the dyno breathing and spitting at 'ya :)

You should change the Speed3's tags to "Stump Pulla" hahaha

FazdaRX_8 08-05-2012 12:09 PM

Bummer

pdxhak 08-05-2012 12:14 PM

Had a great time and was really good to see old friends and meet some of the new 8club members :)

Dima_MX6 08-05-2012 03:21 PM

Yesterday sucked ass, as soon as I got ready to go I was called in to work... *&^%$#@

Glad everyone had a great time, looking forward to future events, and if anyone took any photos it would be awesome to see them!

Brettus 08-05-2012 03:26 PM

Sounds like a very productive day . I do wonder however if a better approach would be a two day event where the first day is for the FI cars , just road testing and trouble shooting . That way the dyno session is just for fine tuning and pulling some numbers .

SARX take note !

ducks for cover :suspect:

dondo 08-05-2012 03:39 PM

yeah its a reasonable idea but we dont have a place to drive safely on the roads at the same gearing/speed/rpm that we can on the dyno.

FazdaRX_8 08-05-2012 03:49 PM

maybe brettus ment do road like testing on the dyno the first day and have a numbers and pulls the second day?

Brettus 08-05-2012 04:01 PM
