Drag and Drift: Rest of 2010

This is a thread created to offset Anijo’s monthly partisan post of what he considers to be racing. I believe that all fun things in cars have a place in motorsport including my personal favorite: tractor pulls. The following is a rough schedule of the remaining drag and drifting events for 2010.

DRIFT:

Sunday – 9/5 – NWR SCCA Drifting
Sunday – 10/17 – NWR SCCA Drifting
Firday – 8/13 – Evergreen Drift NW ProAm Championship – Round #4*
Sunday – 8/22 – Open Drift
Friday – 9/3 – Evergreen Drift NW ProAm Championship – Finale at the Fair*
Friday – 9/24 – Open Drift
*not a driving event unless you plan on participating in the ProAm Championship.

Cost:
NWR events are $60 for SCCA members and $75 for non-members – Passengers are permitted
Evergreen open drift events are $80

More Info:

http://www.nwr-scca.org/drifting/

DRAG:
Wednesday – 7/21 – Test and Tune – Gates open at 4pm
Wednesday – 7/28 – Test and Tune – Gates open at 4pm
Friday – 7/30 – Test and Tune and Jr Dragsters *– Gates open at 4pm
Wednesday – 8/4 – Test and Tune – Gates open at 4pm
Friday – 8/6 – Test and Tune and Jr Dragsters* – Gates open at 4pm
Wednesday – 8/11 – Test and Tune – Gates open at 4pm
Wednesday – 8/13 – Test and Tune and Jr Dragsters* - Gates open at 4pm

*Jr Dragsters are exactly what they sound like, little kids in miniature rail cars running the 1/8th mile. But in that sense they just take up track time and prevent people from running. In most cases for people that are doing actual “tuning” it won’t matter much, but for those who are just looking to test without the tuning, it just eats up track time.

Cost is $30 per event and a yearly fee of $10 for a “competition number”, I have not found where it is written if passengers are allowed. I will have to call to find out. If the rules haven’t changed, you don’t need a helmet for a car slower than 13.99 on the 1/4th mile and passengers are allowed. I will call and confirm if people are interested in going.

I have a request for And1Kidd to create a thread about the remaining shows in the NW for 2010? I googled briefly and only found one more show in August in the BC area which is a combo drift/show event.

You should add venue links

I've thought about adding the drift events to my threads before, Shin has asked for them... but this thread works just as well As for drag events... yah, I should've just included those.

I still wish we had a NW calendar that had all the event times and list of who is attending.

Nick does a great job of organizing events on a monthly basis and this works for drifting and Drag, but i still wish we had an event calendar with details, links, who is and isnt attending and maybe color coded so its easy to see what each event is (Drift, meet, autx, ect...)

Just a thought

If we had a way to have it be integrated with the boards that would be sweet... but I think we would end up posting a thread for every few events anyway.

Create a google group? then put a calendar on that? and then have everyone join the group and use that to send out the notices?

Hey guys, there's an open drift session on 9/5 at Bremerton. I believe the proam finale at Evergreen on 9/3 also has an open drift session. Not 100% sure, but I saw it in the reg info.

I'm still trying to clear with the officials to photograph the event at Evergreen on Friday. I haven't heard back from them and there's no phone number to call. Unless something else comes up, I'll probably be at the even on 9/5 to photograph as well. Maybe I'll bring a helmet so I can take joy rides too.

If it doesn't rain, I will be there with a camera in hand. MOOOREEE practice. Evergreen was pretty difficult to shoot, there's not nearly as many opportunities like there were at PGP.

There's supposed to be a guy drifting an RHD FD on Sunday.
