Clutch replacement

Hey Guys,

Looks like my clutch is starting to go. Its not putting the power down and Im starting to smell it after I drive the car. Wondering If you guys could recommend a good shop in the Seattle/Eastside area to get the clutch done. Would prefer not to pay the $1200 premium that it appears the dealer wants to charge (The jist of what I get they charge by searching). Thanks for the help.

A cheap but unfortunate way to get it done, is to check your engine compression, if your engine fails the test and you get your engine warrantied, have your clutch replaced for the cost of parts.

And sorry I don't know of a shop to recommend. Good luck.

University mazda wants 1400 to change the clutch. You can buy your own clutch kit from racing beat and have it replaced at Group 2 for much much less.

My clutch replacement wasn't so cheap because I had a catastrophic throw out bearing failure. But even with replacing the pivot fork, front plate and having the flywheel turned, it was still cheaper than having mazda do it.

University Mazda is the best dealership around for getting work done "at the dealership" that I have found though.

Best bet is buy a clutch online and pay seine to put it in. BHR will have all the parts you need. I had a shop in Tacoma do mine.
