Car Nutz Customz

Has anybody been to Car Nutz Customz in Bellevue, WA? It seems like they are getting good reviews on city search but was just wondering if anybody here has been there. I just wanted to know how their prices compare in regards to getting performance tires and an intake. I'm not a very mechanical guy and am thinking about purchasing and having them install an intake for me in addition to getting the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's.

Peace,
Ryden

What kind of driving do you do? RE-11's are very, very nice tires but they're potentially overkill for street driving and if you ever find yourself driving in light snow or near freezing conditions, they're going to do pretty poorly. For tires you're probably better off buying from Discount Tire. They'll price match TireRack.com (Totem Lake DC even matched without shipping) and they have incredible customer service. They've balanced my tires for free a half dozen times now, even before I'd bought anything from them.

As for something like an intake, I'd go to Speedware Motorsports in Kirkland or Fordahl Motorsports in Redmond... or buy Brad some Dick's get him to do it for you

Also, welcome?

I agree with Nick on the tires...I recomended them to you didn't I??? Anyway Ive always used them and the road hazard program they offer is amazing and I recomend that as well.

I have a K&N Typhoon that I will be selling in July when I get back from Iraq. Its in my garage back in MI right now. If you want something else, they are a pretty easy install and Im going to offer the lifts again at Ft. Lewis when I fly back in June-Sept.

You can't get back soon enough man, my 30k service is coming up and my work schedule is so nuts I'm actually considering paying a shop to do it while I'm at work...

I'm only doing street driving right now, but I do plan on doing some autocross and track days. My brother just bought the RE-11's for his MR2 and said they are awesome. He just had a track day where he lives in Indiana and said that the grip he was getting was better then he imagined. I will definitely look into Discount Tire. I haven't really met anyone on here yet so I'm not sure who Brad is, but I'm always willing to use beer as payment for installation. hehe Thanks for the recommendations and I'll look into the intakes some more.

Brad = Rawrx8. Show up at the Dick's meet in Seattle We're super casual. Speaking of which, we should totally have one on Friday and see about an Iron Man 2 trip...

Don't get me wrong, RE-11's are great tires. They have excellent grip in both the dry and the wet, but they're expensive. In the size I was shopping for (255/40/17) they were around $210/tire, compared to $155/tire for the Star Specs I ended up buying. In the dry, the difference between the two is negligible to most people and even the hardcore autox'ers have a hard time justifying the cost difference since both tires will wear just as fast. In the wet, the RE-11's are generally considered better, but it's by a small margin and the Star Specs are considered to be the 2nd best performance tire in the wet.

^ As in you have a purty mouth....lol

Well to put it this way, my office is empty except my bed and packed bags. We fly on the 15th to one of the major FOB's out here and will be there for up to 3-4 weeks....but it shouldn't take that long. Ive heard our timeline is already moving to get home even earlier!!!

My car ships the weekend of the 22-23rd!

Car Nutz has good customer services and are very professional, but they do charge a bit more for labor than others. Intakes typically pretty easy to install. CAI a bit harder than Shart Ram, but either way come out to dick meet up with us and see if brad is willing to help install. It will save you money and its fun working on your own car!!!

I actually have not been to Dick's yet, but drive by it everytime I go into Fremont. When is the next meet? To better explain myself, I'm a transplant from MI and am still working my way around all the popular Seattle joints.
