Unhappy Bad Day

So, I’ve had my front license plate in my windshield since I got my plates, passed by many state troopers, county sheriff’s ect… Yesterday on my way to the dealership to get my windows tinted (the company missed their appointment) I’m heading down 56th towards So Tacoma Way, I see a Tacoma Motorcycle Officer, He turns around on a side street behind me. After getting behind a truck behind me and to my passenger side he turns on his lights. I start to pull over, like a good driver, the officer holds his hand out to me telling me to wait, and he then follows the truck into a Chevron station, not wanting to block a main arterial road I pull into the Chevron station as well. He deals with the truck then comes over to my car, I roll down my window and politely ask him why I was pulled over; he informs me that it is because I ‘did not have a front license plate’. I pointed out that my front license plate is in my windshield, he told me that it needed to be mounted on the front of my car, and pointed out on my registration that the back needs tabs but the front still needs to be ‘displayed’. To make matters worse I have not received the information for my insurance in the 8 yet, I got my insurance setup over the phone at the dealership. So now I’ve got to mount my front license plate and have a Tacoma officer sign off that it was done and get my proof of insurance, all in all it was a pretty bad experience. Compounding to the bad day, I curbed my passenger front rim at the dealership The plus side is the tinting company did a good job on my tint, I can’t see anything wrong with it but then again I got the car back at 5:30PM lastnight.

Update: looking at the tint in the daylight the tint looks rather good. I was kind of worried that 35% would be too light but it turned out looking really nice on my 8. I’m impressed with the tinting company, just wish I could remember the name of the company

You do not have to mount the front plates. If I am not wrong it was not mandatory as of about 2 years ago. There are more and more cars out here with no front plates. Sorry about your ordeal. The oficer needs to get a life.

True, my guess is he was just having a bad day or wanting to fulfill his quota, I'll have to get a closer look at the rim but last night it just looked a little scuffed.
