Need to clear a code?
#4
if there is somebody, I would politely ask him or her to re-flash my ecu, also that same person could be somebody worth getting to know locally. and yes maybe down the road clear some codes
I have seen a few rx-8 around here, in most case they fall into two category, first is they just drive the car and take it to the dealer. second is they are some punk, who won't take the time to understand/research the rotary engine.

hey Fazda: not to be a punk but somebody else's Cobb AP won't do you any good.
They can only Flash your ECU if they've completely uninstalled the programming from their car. At that point, the AP mates itself to your ECU and they cannot reprogram their car with it.
What do you need re-flashed? Is it to clear a code or are you looking to change parameters such as AFR, OMP settings, etc

I did not know that it mated with the car, I guess you would need to do this to make money.
I just read that its a better tune then even the upgraded stock flash.
just looking for more economy and power
I mean it seems the aftermarket has put more research into the tuning of the renisis then even mazda, but thats no surprise, the mazdaspeed protege ran pig rich stock too...
sorry for making a useless thread

not useless at all, I'm sure there are others out there who also don't realize that the AP mates itself to the car's pcm
As for running pig rich: yeah it does!!! I data logged my oem map and found that I was hitting 11.1 AFR at just over 4,000 rpm's.
The beauty of the AP is all the added benefits it can provide aside from squeezing out a few more HP.
- You can turn up the Oil Metering Pump because we are learning that in OEM form, it is not delivering enough oil to properly lubricate the seals.
- Having the cooling fans turn on sooner
- Leaner AFR's (fuel economy + performance gains can be seen here)
- Valet Mode. (car won't go over 2500 rpm)
- I could do this all day but I think you're getting the picture.
You should look into getting an AP from Mazdamaniac as he offers personalized tuning (for FREE) with the purchase of an AccessPort from him.
