Alternator Help!

I figured I would post here first and then to the West (California) group since more of you are familiar with who I am here.

I am heading to Monterey then Los Angeles and the bearings in my alternator have started to fail.

It is making a whining noise and as the car gets warmer a growling. It sounds pretty bad.

The Alternator is still charging fine.

My problem is that so far every place I have tried/called the alternator is a special order item. Even the dealerships so far. The Drive belt has also been a special order item.

Does anyone have recommendations as to where I might get one in stock some place between Monterey to Los Angeles California?

if you send a message to patrickandraste@gmail.com it goes to my phone directly and I can send my phone number.

Patrick

I tried calling a few places, and Car Quest hung up on me so I didn't get to ask them. Maybe a scrap yard has an RX8 they'll let you part?

i got mine from autozone last year. it was in stock and came with a lifetime warranty. be careful it doesnt seize and shread the belt. if it does you will also lose the water pump and make a huge mess, ask me how i know. its easy to change but kinda a pita to get out if the strut bar is still on, but doable.
hope this helps jesse

it could be the air pump for emissions. it makes mike an jet engine sound and then its get worse. but it is cover under the extended warranty, if not it cost around $500 and its special order, so I do hope its the alternator!!!
