Hi guys..I serviced my car today at University Mazda..I saw 3 others white water pearl. Were there any of you guys?
Anyway, my car right now has 24600 miles on it..today I just did the 25000miles service...I asked Paul about 30000miles service..he quoted me $1035.00 for 30000miles service..!!!I was really shocked..
Were there any of you guys that already done this service? Is it that expensive?

30k tune up is about 700+ bucks
includes
-Oil change and filter
-Engine Cleaner and Conditioner (whatever that it)
-Differential Fluid change
-Transmission fluid change
-Clean battery terminals
-rotate tires (if applic.)
-inspect brakes
-Brake fluid Change
-Power Steering fluid change
-Replace engine air filter and in-cabin filter
-Clean Fuel injectors and throttle body.

You can do all this for less than $200 bucks on your own,

-Oil change and filter --Less than $50 in your driveway
-Engine Cleaner and Conditioner (whatever that it) --don't bother
-Differential Fluid change --Less than $25 in your driveway
-Transmission fluid change --Less than $25 in your driveway
-Clean battery terminals --free if you have a wire brush, otherwise $1.25 (for the brushs)
-rotate tires (if applic.) --free in your driveway
-inspect brakes --free in your driveway
-Brake fluid Change --pick up some speed bleeders and this is easy enough on your own. Otherwise, maybe $50 at an honest shop.
-Power Steering fluid change --Ummm, it's electric assist on the 8, not fluid to change, sorry.

-Replace engine air filter and in-cabin filter
-Clean Fuel injectors and throttle body.

Do what you can yourself. $1000 for your 30K service is putting somebody's kid in braces, and it's not your own.

I'm more than happy to do all those things that I can do..but just can't..I live in apt and I just a student here..I have no tools....Does our 8 need spark plug change for the 30K service?

If you were to do it yourself I'd say please pull and check the plugs, but since you have to have someone else do it, don't bother. At 50K you're going to need to change them, and when you do, get the ones for the 93-95 RX-7. The Iridium plugs our cars call for foul to fast to justify the cost. The FD ran platinum plugs. I changed mine back in October. I'm going to pull them in April to see how they're doing. If they're already fouled at that point, I'm going to the coppers from the earlier RX-7s.

your car manual has all the stuff needed to do at the 30k service. Use that as the official reference. The other thing you may want to do is the Mazda service website thing where you can track what you've done to your car through their website.

Not sure what I paid for 30K service but I know it was not that expensive. Do you have other dealerships local to you that you could compare prices?

Dude....go to Doug's Mazda on Highway 99. Only $400 something for 30k service. That includes all that you guys stated. Look up their address on their website. It's up north.

www.dougs.com .. you can make appointment online or e-mail Gerry Brown at gbrown@dougs.com. He's the head service mananger there. You can ask him anything thru e-mail and even make appointment. Their service center opens til 8pm on Thursdays.

NAPA seems to be the best. At least, they most often have them in stock. My plugs were pretty badly fouled, so there was a pretty noticable difference.

$ 400 is a reasonable price at a mazda service center. I don't think any mazda authrized service center would offer 30K service for any lower.... IMO.

Ofcourse ..as Kris mentioned in his comment .....if you could do all those things yourself in your own garage....it would be way cheaper.............but that person said he couldn't......so

The dealers must be having a Hay day with you guys... I don't know how many times I need to say it but the RX8 has Electronically ASSISTED Steering Wheel which means you don't have power steering fluid in your car.

If they're including a Power Steering Fluid Change in their 30Kmi service for the RX-8, yes, they're absolutely lieing through their teath and if they don't know it you don't want them filling your tires, let alone servicing anything else.

I'm strictly posting information that my Mazda 30k service brochure listed. No where have I ever stated that they performed such a task on my car as I do everything on my own.

I just scheduled my 30K with U-Mazda . I'm skipping the tire rotation and differential fluid (they did that recently to fix a grinding issue). After that the cost is $920. I also talked to Doug's just now - they charge $469.99, but that doesn't include spark plugs. They change them at 60K, but U-Mazda does it at 30K. So that's the difference in price between the 2 dealers. I feel more comfortable with U-Mazda, so I'm gonna go ahead and stick with them. I'm also getting an I-Pod adapter.
