Ill still have DSC when I use my Miata ECU, Basically my rx8 is a miata now lol

You could use an aftermarket heater. Like the ones found here Heating - Water - Heating, I'm going to be running one of their micro heaters in my track car swap.
Cheers John |
Hmmmm. On this photo it doesn't looks so bad https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...d022eefd2f.jpg
I think that when you put your engine a little lower (5cm should be fine), then the heater core should fit :) Tailshaft from Series 1 does not fit into the 6 speed gearbox from MX-5 ? |
You're right a series 1 wont fit but a Series 2 does ;)
a Micro heater wouldn't be a bad idea! |
Are you sure about it ? Check this https://www.rx8club.com/rotary-swaps...3b-rew-255076/

yep, I have an NC transmission that will work series 2 Rx8 trans, I just need $900 to buy one from a local wrecker
|
Bwek can you screw this part and take a few photos of it. I would like to see how much space it's gonna take in your car. Please https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...40e242bf12.jpg

^^If you want a low profile version....incurring a bit of re-plumbing, they are made.
This is one of two types supplied by the local vendor down here. |
Where I can buy it ? :)
|
This is in Australia.
Appears his email has changed - seems it was current as of a couple of years back going by google, I've normally phoned him - durescort at gmail dot com. Roger Carroll is his name. |

Honestly I'm shocked this swap hasn't been done 100s of times by now. The 2.3 has its issues I wouldn't use the 2.3... The 2.0 is a high reving motor it's kinda like the rotary it wakes up in higher rpms... Now the 2.5 is what I would use add in some cams your at almost 200whp and 180whp torque in n/a. That's with i/h/e. The 2 5s are good to 300-350 whp on stock block. Not many rx8s are even close to 300whp let alone reliable 300whp. This swap would be cheap vs LS swap. No need for bump steer kits or anything.

Hello :) How's progress ? :)

made some progress on the electronics, Im going to run an 06+ Miata Cluster and ECU. there are tons of well developed tuning options and the Miata cluster 90% fits into the rx8 dash Attachment 217108 Oh and the miata Cluster plugs right into the rx8 harness :rofl: |
Okay, that's pretty crazy.
|
just curious, what is the other 10% of fitting in the dash issue?

it fits into the dash nearly perfect |
Any more updates on this? |
As it turns out, the MZR (2.5L) fits nicely without cutting into the firewall.

ProMazda Racecars run a 2.0L MRZ making 275hp/190TQ...
https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net...33&oe=5BE0DDFA Got to see these things stomp around the racetrack all weekend long at Road America, so needless to say I have been thinking heavily about this swap. Whats the weight difference between the average MZR and Renesis? anyone know? I've been toying with the idea of Flying Miata Supercharged or mildly built Naturally aspirated using a NC Miata Engine.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/tF...=w1382-h777-no a Engine that drops into a mostly factory car without having to cut into the firewall would be HUGELY Tempting. A 2.5L That fits even easier might work out better. The Extra Displacement should help make it easier to squeeze more torque out of the car... |
It fits perfectly. There is no need to cut the firewall. Some work needs to be done to the water outlet on the rear of the cylinder head and the cowl needs to be cut as shown in the pic above, but that cut doesn't get into the firewall at all. No need to remove or relocate the heater core like other people have done in this thread.
|
John V. is doing this swap for SCCA Street Modified class and detailing info in this thread.
It's mostly rear-end stuff right now but hopefully there will be more engine info soon. The big thing to remember with John's build is that the rules expressly forbid modifying the firewall to allow moving the engine backwards.
