And on the track - I'd be willing to bet my car would be faster because he will not be able to hook that much power up.

ok lets look at how things are with the 985 whp 3 rotor, im sure he would send a scooby home with its tail tucked. now from how things are going to be i wouldent be suprised if he was banging gears with a z06 vette and pulling on him with 1200+hp. with the right wheels tires suspension and gearing it will just be nuts, hell im a bit jealous now with my small sr20 compared to the beast of rgonzas new idea.

the oem chassis is not going to handle 1200hp. i am sure he has plans to reinforce where it is needed.
Also he will NEVER get that kind of power to hook up properly without some MAJOR chassis Mods and once done with all that --its not an RX* anymore--its a friggin monster. woo ha! bench race this concept all you want--it will be bad ass. olddragger |

Yes it wiil be practical, and it's for daily use street machine with air cond, power steering, abs, shiftronics 6 speed tranny, and for ocassional track race, this one gonna be more faster , efficient & raliable than mine with 20b with 980 rwhp.

rgonza has more then proven himself here time and time again. Haters can deal with it because with his track record here, this will be one of the most bad ass rx-8s ever. I cant wait to see the final product. Good luck rgonza!

he has more horsepower than all of us at 650whp with his previous set up.
he can handle himself. lol. |
Here's a teaser while we wait... now imagine the sound of this engine at nearly twice the power levels in the much lighter RX8. This is a 427 LSX iron block twin turbo. I think he's only making around 600 whp in this video. Sounds pretty mean to me!
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/t...gto_210847.htm Heres some dyno data from another LSX 427 GTO build with conservation 10.0 A/F They couldn't go any higher than 13 psi just because the Nitto drag radials were slipping on the dyno rollers... they want to see what it will do with slicks at 18psi. The stock 20G turbos are too small. 7 psi 672 RWHP 709 RWTQ 9 psi 694.1 RWHP 815.1 RWTQ 10 psi 709.0 RWHP 845.6 RWTQ 11 psi 715.9 RWHP 854.7 RWTQ 12 psi 739.9 RWHP 866.7 RWTQ 13 psi 774.6 RWHP 893.1 RWTQ Technical article about the LSX engine build in this car... a lot of good detail about the LSX if you want to learn about a 1000hp build http://www.enginebuildermag.com/Cont...0000011833.pdf |

In addition to all this, try looking up Tom Nelson in CA and Thomson Automotive in MI. These guys have built some seriously wicked pump gas, twin-turbo'd, LS engines.

I used to live down the road from Thomson before I moved to AZ. Does that make me cool?
So now I'm surprised you became a rotary enthusiast... being in close proximity to "supa' V8 powah" didn't rub off on you? |

nice man.
really nice. |
Those are some bigass turbos. What kind of horsepower are you lookin' for when you finish all of it?

I'm surprised nobody asked yet, because everybody here is so concerned about weight... the difference between that iron block and an aluminum block is 80 lbs. |
looks to me like the eyes of a monter peeping out of the hood :scared:

some sick shyt, but i dont believe it will work with the 8 chasis, and if it does i dont believe it will last to long, to much stress even with reinforcements, i dont thinkg any1 here realized what 960rwhp does to a chasis so thin as the 8, i deff give major props and have lots of faith on this crazy project that the car will start and move, but as a mechanical engineer is hard to believe that this car will be a daily driver, and wont split or crack in diffent places, as for half of you, stop hatin bc you have a wack z06 its an rx8 club not chevy, so i say you need to not speak unless spoke to, again major props on this and sounds good on paper or what ever but at the end of the day you must realize what type of stress your putting on a car that was meant to be 50/50 weight dis, and a 1.3l engine. good luck brother and hope for the best

The RX-8 is well known for the stiffness of the chassis. I just don't know how well that stiffness translates into resisting twisting forces from the big engine.

That is just sick. If a Miata chassis or a 240/280ZX can handle it then an RX8 chassis can.
|
No one has put 1200hp on this chassis yet--no one on a street car. So it is unexplored territory. I am curious in how the engine and trans are mounted and were. Like the 3 rotor?
Still this is wicked. It makes an old man with musclecar memories tear up. Dude dont forget the suspension --you need some really good spring rates etc!!! Make the side vents more functional for all that exhaust header heat:) Wicked, WIcked Wicked. olddragger |
i dont think the race rx8s have 1200hp either...
not even the 3 rotors.. |
Think it will drive like this? It evil, but it's not ludicrous. I'd like to drive it.
