Help needed, ls2 rx8, no rpm signal or elec steer
My ls2 rx8 is almost done. Tuned and all. How ever I have a couple of issues.
No rpm signal and elec power steer not working.
I have used the lsrx8 kit. We have fitted the rx8 trigger wheel and crank angle sensor. Water temp gauge works intermittent, the power steering is intermittent and so is the oil pressure gauge. We have gone through everything and can not figure out why we have no rpm signal.
Behind the gear stick I found these wires to be cut (see picture), but I don't know what it's for? If any one does know please tell as it may be the cause to our problem.
Also any other ls rx8 owners what did you do?
Thanks

FI is right on the money, those wires run to the seat warmer switches.
Possibly a faulty ESS/CAS , Is the RX8 harness you are using grounded ?

Welp, rpm is picked up by the ess and you said you fitted the trigger wheel. So, hopefully you didn't cut anything off from the original harness too important. Check that its all orientated properly and the wiring is good. Eps kinda needs the ess working too. And by crank angle sensor you mean what exactly? The LSx one or the Renesis (ess)?

Found the problem thanks to John @ Tougefactory.com The adapter the trigger wheel is attached too, is drilled incorrectly. So the trigger wheel was on the wrong way. Flipped it around, bingo, we have rpm signal and dash works. Just need to take it for a test drive to confirm elec steer works.
Thanks for your help regarding other wires

hello friend, I have the same problem with my mazda ls, could you help me sending some pictures of how this piece should go? Thank you

Hello all.
i know it's very old thread but i have kind of same problem. i'v swapped M113 E55 engine to rx8 wired everything from Mercedes, car starts and runs without problems. as i found on internet i'v decided to keep RX8 PCM with crank, water temp, and oil press. sensors. so i have stripped lots of extra harness from mazda engine wiring. and keep only few pins on ECU connector 1 and 2. connectors 3 and 4 keept untouched. and big connector near ECU don't connected at all. mounted crank sensor on MB crank pulley, temp sensor in water hose and press sensor on oil pressure port. i can access mazda PCM via obd and check/delete fault codes. but when im looking on live data temp sensor shows -40 C. crank signal doesn't comes at all and press gauge doesn't works. in this condition of course cluster don't recognizes rpm water temp or oil press. i think i'v cutted something thats i didnt musted to cut can someone tell me what i must do... what extra i'v cuted
also i want to let know cluster that's generator is running. MB generator gives 14v on from alternator wire. so can i directly splice to mazda generator wire that' goes to PCM? and if yes which from mazdas 2 wires receives voltage to recognize generator is running?
and yes. i'v tryed to search before post
Thanks everyone and sorry for my English

Did you move the trigger wheel to the new engine as well? The crank sensor isn't going to work without that.
There is no oil pressure sensor on the car, so don't worry about that. The gauge doesn't measure anything.
You've installed the RX8 coolant temp sensor somewhere in the coolant system? -40 sounds like it's either shorting to ground or isn't connected. I'm not sure which way our sensors go, typically lower voltage with higher temp.
I don't really have a wiring diagram handy but I wouldn't feed the cluster 14v directly without checking thoroughly.
Sorry I can't help more.

thank you for your reply.
yes of course. an i think i know why i don't have crank signal. i'll check it today but as i remember when i was installing mazda wiring on M113 i'v wired 1 pin directly to ecu and grounded second one directly to ground as in mazda wiring 1 pin was going to few ground positions. i think this is the problem and today i'll fix it. also i think i'v cuted some wires thats was grounding 1 2 ecu connectors.
are you sure that's oil press sensor doesn't mesures anything ? then how to give cluster idea that's engine have good oil press to turn off oil light on cluster ?
i think i have same problem with coolant temp sensor that i have with crank sensor and today i think i'll fix that.
i have wiring diagram and as i figured out 2 pins going to ecu from alternator. 1 is w/g and second br/r W/G is informative that's gives info to ecu info that alternator works. BR/R is control wire thet comes from ecu and controls generator output. but i couldn't find in manual what is voltage supplyed to ECU with W/G pin.... i don't want to directly connect and burn out something....
thank you for your reply.
