wouldn't that just make it an overweight, overbloated and even more underpowered miata with 4 seats?
definitely smoking the wrong stuff.

Please don't. Step away from the pipe.

Take a look at a Miata and see where the engine is mounted. Then look at where the Renesis is mounted in the 8.

its kind of funny people talk about putting 13b's in miata to have the best of both but not putting that little bp engine in a 8. would be just cheaper to buy a miata and turbo it.

only i4 worth considering IMHO would be a f22 from a s2000, and for the cost id imagine it would be a heck of alot cheaper/easier to turbo the rotary and have alot more power.

now if this is a rx8 with a blown motor or salvage with no motor in it at all then i guess its a different story.

The idea of an engine swap is to IMPROVE the power/weight ratio of the car, usually by putting a MORE POWERFUL engine in...coincidentally this almost always means a physically larger engine as well.

The rotary produces the power of a small 6 with the torque and displacement of a 4 (or displacement of a 6, depending on who is doing the debating) and the fuel consumption of an 8. So it makes NO sense to put anything smaller than a 6 cyl in place of it, unless of course it's a different rotary swap you are doing.

I would love to see someone do a MS3/MS6 2.3 swap, though i'm not sure of the weight compared to the renesis.

I think go big or go home.

If you're doing an engine swap, make it a 20B or a V8.

a few years ago here there was a guy wanting to put a hayabusa engine in an rx8.

he claimed it seemed like the only solution to get massive power and keep weight low. while neglecting that the engine makes about 100hp and the bike is fast cuz its a bike.

a miata engine would be a major step backwards
