2JZ RX8 project has started

From the same guys that brought the blue 3 rotor rx8. We have aquired a 2005 white RX and a 2JZ with a manual trnny. Car will be a daily driver and will retain its twin turbo setup (if possible). Not mybfavorite motor for the 8 But an amazing motor never the less. Pics will start flowing in the next couple of days. Lets see how this one comes out.

2005 base model. It will eventualy get a Big brake kit and a whole bunch of goodies, but for now we are going to concentrate in thr swap itself.

boostdtalon 11-13-2013 06:28 PM

If this comes out anything like your 20B, it'll be a well executed swap. Looking forward to seeing this one completed.

pdxhak 11-13-2013 10:44 PM

Looking forward to following the build. Good luck :)

dznutzuk 11-14-2013 04:05 AM

Nice nice nice, can't wait! I've seen a couple, but not that nice.

Mazdaspeed RX8 ver2 11-14-2013 05:00 AM

If it was done to an FD, see no reason why it can't be done to the 8. Not too fond for a 2jz swap but interested in seeing the finished product, good luck!

wcs 11-14-2013 05:11 AM

sub'd

this should be cool...

Chezmanbespoke 11-15-2013 07:01 AM

Badass build! What are you doing for a big brake kit?

Also, how do you plan on retaining oem functions?

dznutzuk 11-15-2013 07:21 AM

Λ The same way you retain the functions for a rotary swap!

yomomspimp06 11-15-2013 07:35 AM

put a renesis front cover on it haha

VVTi just kicked in yo! Lol

Slidin8 11-16-2013 04:28 PM

Why no isuzu v6 swap?

angeljoelv 11-16-2013 07:22 PM

This motor was originally going in a 1972 celica, which was our project but then desided to look for a newer body car and why not an Rx. Its my brother's car so thisbis what he desided.

dznutzuk 11-18-2013 09:48 AM

2JZ no shit.....Sorry Joel, I just had to.... :)

angeljoelv 11-18-2013 11:35 PM

Lol.. no worries.

Carbon8 11-19-2013 12:30 AM

Goodluck on the build.

Long jurney ahead, but we are making progress.

yokohamaboi 12-23-2013 03:02 AM

Looks like a tight fit. Plus you could run the intercooler through the factory intake hole

dznutzuk 12-23-2013 03:23 PM

Nice nice, how did everything fit with the power steering? Might be interested in some engine mounts once you geti them done. Looks like I have to get rid of my bre engine, since I have no one to tune it. At least there are a ton of piston tuners here.

Looks sick man. May I ask what is up w the 4 port? :)

angeljoelv 01-08-2014 09:53 PM

the 4 port Motor is low on compression. Im going to rebuild it and maybe sell it later.

yokohamaboi 01-08-2014 10:30 PM

awesome! Any issues with firewall clearance?

angeljoelv 01-09-2014 08:19 AM

Not at all. The crossmember and steering rack is an other story

200.mph 01-09-2014 08:32 AM

looking good angel. you know if your bored, instead of playing with pistons you could swap a b re, b rew, or 20b in my car lol

yokohamaboi 01-09-2014 11:50 AM

did you have to relocate it? or oil pan is hitting?

angeljoelv 01-10-2014 05:56 PM

We used a steering rack from another car. We had the steering pump with the motor so we didnt have to worry about that. I will let u know once the car is on the road if it works good.

I8yourv8 01-12-2014 06:49 PM

what kind of numbers are you going for with this project?

DMaverickRX8 01-12-2014 07:36 PM

Mad skills I'm jealous

angeljoelv 01-12-2014 07:49 PM

4-500 whp range.

angeljoelv 01-12-2014 08:13 PM

Once everything is in place, we are taking it apart and making some cosmetic adjusments. All fab work on this project (engine, tranny and rear end mounts and braces) was done by RAW. Rich Auto Works. So we can't thank him enough for all his amazing work. Its still a long road ahead for us here at the shop but i think at the end it will all be worth it.

9krpmrx8 01-12-2014 08:27 PM

Nice work. Get it right, get it tight.

AlShinka 01-16-2014 11:25 AM

Man I really dig this swap...I'll do this once the renesis lets me down

angeljoelv 01-17-2014 07:47 PM

We originally were staying twins but at some point after we started the swap desided on going single. So it changes a little the original plan but thats how things go.
