Wish Me Luck
Hi Guys,
Recently purchased my car only a few days ago (2005, 231ps) and it drives like a dream and is incredible fun, can't fault the performance.
The only issue I have uncovered so far is an intermittent warm start issue; sometimes it starts after 3 cranks, but sometimes it takes around 10 seconds, I knew this when i bought the car and i also know of the possible causes, but with the cost of the car I jumped in and took the risk. It's done less than 50000 miles and only had two owners so thought it too good an opportunity to miss. After all there are not many around here and I have been looking at buying one for a while.
I have it booked in for a full service and compression test on the 5th of November which isn't cheap but best to get a good idea on any future costs early in the ownership process.
So all you RX fans on here, wish me luck that nothing to major requires undertaking, and i will keep you updated on my progress.
Cheers all!

Um,
Might not be that bad. There is a youtube video out there where a guy worked the apex seals free through the exhaust port. Basically he turned the engine until the seal was under the hole, sprayed solvent in (you could use seafoam in a spray can), and went to the next one. Then he poked each on with a small screwdriver to try to free them up. Took time, but you could give it a shot through the wheel well. Be careful of the plug threads... And, this would be an extreme long shot. If a seal is broken, this this is no good. What were the compression numbers?
Or, it might not be the apex seals. Then sorry.

Hey 04 Green, got my compression result back, rotor one was barely touching 400 and rotor 2 was around 580. So pretty low,
I love the car though, and spoke to a guy from Rotary revs regarding an engine rebuild, it would cost £2250 but as i only paid a little over a grand for the car, and nothing else is wrong with it (touch wood) it could be a good investment rather than trading her in for next to nothing..
Cheers.

Rebuild
Hi Guys,
Just to let you know, I've got my car booked in for an engine rebuild on saturday, which will take a few weeks, (due to the garage being really busy).
I will post as soon as I get her back.
Cheers.
