The quicker shifts are not just beneficial to drag racers, the rev matching and downshifts make the experience as well. Especially when the trans is tuned and adapted to your driving style.

I too was very anti auto until I got to spend time in a proper paddle shift car. I find most who dis on the "autos" have never spent time in the twisties or on track in a proper paddle shift performance car.

Very true on the paddle shifting/DCT...not having to take a hand off the steering wheel to have a precise shift is pretty damn cool too.

However, the feeling of pure awesomeness that comes from coming out of a hard corner and nailing that 2nd to 3rd shift, or that perfectly timed downshift deep in the corner that sets you up so perfectly for the pass is undeniable.
